New Music: J. Cole – ‘Truly Yours’ EP![]() J. Cole is making his fans wait a little longer for his sophomore album Born Sinner. But he makes up for the delay by sharing a free collection of songs called Truly Yours. The five tracks consist of music that won’t make his album, with titles including “Can I Holla at Ya,” “Crunch Time,” “Rise Above,” “Tears for ODB,” and “Stay” circa 2009. In a letter to his fans posted on his Dreamvillain blog, the Roc Nation rapper explains that he’s recorded at least four albums worth of material, but not everything can make the cut. He plans to release the first single from Born Sinner this week, calling the album his “best work yet.” Grab Cole’s free songs and read his letter below.

It’s funny, because I went to check his website for any news concerning Born Sinner just yesterday. His words sound promising. Truly Yours will be a nice addition to the collection.

Love all of these songs, especially “Rise Above.” That one is one of his most powerful and real to date. Thanks, J. You’re making North Carolina proud.

He has gotta get a Grammy next year. TBH, he was robbed of Best New Artist last year. This guy never disappoints. He’s the future.

Heard he and Frank Ocean were in the studio together. If they have a track on Born Sinner, it’s a shoe-in for a “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” at the Grammys.

Cole is persistent lyrically… He shows this in ALL of
Work. I disagree on the features, I think that’s just for money sake and exposure but anything Cole puts work into is ART, this is obvious considering his mixtapes.. They are albums! I think His sophomore album is going to be amazing, I am ready to hear his stories since his life has changed know that he’s beginning to make an impact on the music industry. I truly think he is here to stay and will be legendary!
