Rap-Up.com || Melanie Fiona Covers Whitney Houston’s ‘One Moment in Time’

Chrisette Michele paid homage to the late, great Whitney Houston with her cover of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).” Now Melanie Fiona salutes the legendary diva as part of Billboard’s week-long tribute to Houston.

The Canadian songstress performs an acoustic cover of “One Moment in Time,” which Houston recorded for the 1988 Summer Olympics.

“I feel like it is one of the greatest songs that she has and that has kind of ever been written,” said Melanie. “It’s almost like the forgotten gem of her catalog. … And I feel like this record is just so powerful and has such a positive message. I think that people need to hear that and be reminded of that.”

Very well done! We know she’s not Whitney, but it is a tribute. She’s not trying to duplicate her because no one can.

I would have praised it had she made it her own. She tried to sing it in the same way Whitney sang it which made her look like a low grade carbon non-copy…sigh
