Rap-Up.com || Alicia Keys Performs at NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show

Following the Inaugural Ball, the Super Bowl, and the Grammys, Alicia brought her keys to the court for the 2013 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. With her hair slicked back, the Grammy-winning singer headlined the halftime show at the Toyota Center in Houston, decked out in a midriff-baring top, leather sweatpants, and sneakers while performing a 10-minute medley of her hits.

Although she was in H-town, that didn’t stop Alicia from opening with her New York anthem “Empire State of Mind” while seated at the piano.

She ignited the stage with a dancehall remix to “Girl on Fire,” accompanied by male dancers in suits, headphones, and Reebok Kamikaze sneakers courtesy of her husband Swizz Beatz.

“Help me celebrate love, help me celebrate life,” said Alicia while belting out her smash “No One” as the audience put their lighters in the air.

She closed with the empowering “New Day,” getting down with her troupe of dancers during the big finale.

@deeJay, THIS PERFORMANCE WAS A COMPLETE DISASTER, I NEVER THOUGHT I WUD BE SAYING THAT ABOUT ALICIA KEYS BUT GOODNESS, IT WAS DREDFUL TO WATCH 4RM TOP 2 BOTTOM, SHE SHUD BE EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED IN HERSELF CONSIDERING SHE’S DONE MUCH BETTER IN PREVIOUS YEARS.

Why? Do you think Beyonce is perfect all the time? No, she even chooses to lip sync to her fans. Nothing real about that. Anyone can do it. Just as well listen to the recording. I’d rather hear a few imperfections from Alicia and get a REAL LIVE performance than listen to a recording from any other artist. So, she wasn’t perfect, but who is. She’s been doing a lot of really outstanding performances lately. She can have a little off night and still be appreciated by those of us who love that she never cheats her fans and gives her all everytime. Alicia never disappoints.

@Tae, Yes, I actually am and my comment was directed at “aba” who chose to down Ms Keys. The kind of person who pulls up something about Alicia, just to down her and put Beyonce on a pedastal, like she could do no wrong and brag about her greatness.?? I’m pretty much pointing out that Beyonce is not perfect either, and she wouldn’t even attempt to sing the National Anthem. So it was her voice. Yeah. It still wasn’t live but yet it was perceived to be. That’s not hating, that’s just stating a fact. It doesn’t matter to me how fast Beyonce sells out a tour to me. I could care less. Believe me, I don’t make it a special point to pull up Beyonce just to brag about other artists and compare them to her.
