Rap-Up.com || Kanye West Rants About Music Industry, ‘Suit & Tie’ at London Show

Kanye West may be overjoyed about becoming a father, but he’s still the same ol’ Yeezy. The G.O.O.D. Music chief delivered another fiery freestyle against the music business during his show at Hammersmith Apollo in London on Saturday night. The outspoken rapper had some choice words for the Grammys and dismissed Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s single “Suit & Tie.”

“Remind me again why we’re in this shit/ Remind me again why the Grammys could suck my dick,” rapped ‘Ye, who just won three more Grammys earlier this month.

No one was safe. “Remind me again who’s the original Super Fly/ And I got love for Hov, but I ain’t fuckin’ with that ‘Suit & Tie,’” he continued, referring to Justin Timberlake’s collaboration with Jay-Z.

His rhymes got more intense as he went on. “They say yo, you coming on too strong in this shit/ They always talking about I’m doing wrong in this shit/ Well I could give a f**k about anything/ I lost my motherfu**ing mama,” screamed ‘Ye. “I could give a f**k about your comments, I promise/ ‘Cause we all gon’ die one day, but I’ma live my life my way.”

He also addressed his polarizing position in the music industry and having to pander to corporate sponsors. “Did the corporations send a check yet?/ What is my public rating right now?/ Are people liking me again, enough to get some money from the corporations?/ Are they liking me?/ They forgot about the whole Beyoncé thing right, ok, cool?”

@CBE, This is why it is a good idea to NEVER listen to the radio or watch award shows etc. They are brainwashing people into buying certain music/artists but some are just too blind to see it. If you want to hear great music you have to go out and find it, don’t expect ‘the man’ to show it to you. I pray that people will one day wake up.

I know he’s going to take heat for this cause it’s Kanye but c’mon… You can’t tell me that the industry and the world in general hasn’t turned into one big money hungry place. These days when you say you like an artist, it’s always “Oh they’re a flop” or “they can’t sell”, but that’s not why you like an artist. It should never be about the numbers, it should be about the artistry itself. If your fav didn’t sell as much you wouldn’t like them any less. It’s just that some people aren’t coming off as likable, and they can’t get the popularity. Just a whole bunch of nonsense.

@Rich, But why would he be mad about him and Jt touring together? Kanye and Jay’s WTT Tour was one of the highest grossing tours of the last two years and they went all over the globe. JT and Jay are only doing a little summer promo thing, primarily to help JT’s career. jay really doesn’t have anything to promote.

@KaramelKisses, That all may be true but again I don’t think Kanye is jealous. Yeah, he can be a brat but a lot of times he is telling the truth when he goes on those rants. It may not be in the best, most intelligent way but he still speaks his mind and I respect him for that. Kanye is a far bigger star than JT and on average sells more and gets bigger gigs.. so I have a hard time believing that his comment is motivated by jealousy of not being able to work with him. if you read it in a diff context.. it sorta sounds like wordplay rather than a diss but this JT comeback feels sudden & forced and i’m not a JT fan anyway.. and never have been.. so i’m biased.

I was at the show, and have been a massive fan for a long time, and I agree with Knowledge above. People need to listen to what he’s saying. He’s mad at the grammy’s because he’s never been nominated against a white person, and because 4 years ago they asked him to open the show, but then dumped him for gaga because it would bring in more money. He has always said that as long as the people who buy tickets for the shows have a good time, that’s all he cares about, not the money. He cares so much for the music, that’s why he takes his time, and puts so much effort into his music and stage shows.

@queenbee, jay may not be the best in your opinion but he is ONE of the best. loosing his mother does not give him an excuse for being an asshole. and it’s not like he was a child when she passed, he was like 28-29. but if he needs time to grieve then she should take a break indefinitely until he handles his issues. i hope kim realizes she will only be his baby’s motha’ because kanye is far too immature to be someone’s husband & to ever put anyone before himself. #thisbitchdonelostit
