Rap-Up.com || Video: Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey has been gracing the TV screen each week on “American Idol,” and now the “Idol” judge lends her voice to the big screen in the video for “Almost Home” from Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful.

The pop diva looks stunning in black and white as she belts out the Stargate-produced tune in a couture gown. The clean and simple clip, directed David LaChapelle (“Loverboy”), is interspersed with footage from the fantasy adventure film, which hits theaters today.

Mariah’s two-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, inspired her to write the song. “I’ve always just loved Disney, and now especially having two little babies—like all we do is watch animated movies, even though they’re so little, they still love them, especially Roc, my little boy,” she told VH1′s “Big Morning Buzz Live.”

Dem Babies have also influenced her upcoming album, due in May. She has been in the lab with hitmakers including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, The-Dream, and Rodney Jerkins.

these celebrities use american idol, the voice, and x-factor to promote themselves for when they return with an album…not for the contestants because when u think about they would have to be competing with them at the grammys and on the charts when they blow up!

@2bad2bme, Mariah ain’t worried about competing with these “newbies”, she’s a legend, she has nothing at all to prove…she’s still one of the best voices in the industry, and has already claimed the title of being the Best Selling Female Artist of All Time…

And of course, why wouldn’t anyone use a major music show like American Idol to promote her album?? That’s free promotion, plus she’s getting paid big bucks…it would be dumb not to do that!!

The video is how pretty much every song from a soundtrack is, movie clips mixed with a little of the artist. The song is terrific though.

MARIAH IS SLAYING IN 2013. THE LESSERS NEED NOT EVEN TRY TO COME FOR HER. This is her most basic vocal ever and still tops anything your fav has produced. Love it. Can’t wait for her to drop the album title. :)

@AJ, Exactly! These songwriters thought they were going to make a cookie cutter basic soundtrack song, and Mariah came in turned that all around! She lives and breathe lyrics/melodies.
