Rap-Up.com || Usher Reunites with Jermaine Dupri for New Album

Usher has been experimenting with different producers, but he’s returning to familiar territory. The R&B superstar is back in the studio with Jermaine Dupri working on his next album.

“Me and Usher back in the lab,” said J.D. along with a photo of them.

J.D. has worked with Usher since the beginning on his career and produced some of his biggest hits including “U Got It Bad,” “Burn,” and “You Make Me Wanna…” But he was noticeably absent from his last project, 2012’s Looking 4 Myself.

Usher recently performed with Cincinnati rock band The Afghan Whigs at SXSW and has been inspired by indie acts. “It’s gonna be frickin’ out of here,” he told The FADER of his upcoming album. “Space and sky is what it will be. If you look up, it’s everything you could imagine.”

Last month, he released the Diplo-produced “Go Missin’” to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his Grammy-winning single “Climax.”

@Negro please, Don’t compare them. Usher is and was always above him. JT has time to make music over 6 years and the most songs are old so he has the power to make promo, tours etc… but Usher never stopped.

Great to see Usher back with his roots when he first came out. I’ve been waiting for him to bring back that 90′s R&B he used to do so well. Much highly anticipated this will become and especially having grown into the superstar he is now and vocal range and writing skills. This should be a soulful and smooth album true to R&B, Much respect Usher keep making hits.

I’ve always been a big fan of Usher but let’s be honest I think his male r&b peers are making him think twice about his direction with music. Maybe he thought he couldn’t do numbers if it were an R&B based album but take a look around…

@Miguel. I agree. I think it has to do with Miguel’s hit R&B song “Adorn” plus he won a Grammy for that song. There is nothing wrong with artist experimenting with other genres of music but to completely abandon your core audience is a problem. Let’s see if he still has the r&b in him.

I really enjoyed some of the tracks off of “Looking 4 Myself.” It’s a shame that album wasn’t really a success for Usher. Anyway, looking forward to some new music. It’s been a a good week so far for male R&B. Justin released a new album after 7 years, John Legend dropped a new track and now Usher is reuniting with Jermaine Dupri.

Yes yes yes!!! I don’t know what happened after “Confessions,” but Ush has failed to produce a solid album since. He had a good single here and there, but he pretty much lost track. I’m rooting for usher. Confessions is still one of the highest selling albums in America. When’s JT gonna do it?

People don’t realize that Justin sold because he is white. If Usher makes an R & B album it will not sell like Jusitn Timberlake. Miquel and Frank Ocean had good albums and their album barely went gold. Miguel who has hit after hit from both of his albums barely sold 300,000. Adorn is better than Justin whole album, lets be real. Neyo,Usher, Cb makes pop music because R & B don’t sell. White folks bought JT album because of his name and he’s white. Beyonce next album will be a teeny bob album, because her last adult album didn’t do as well as her first solo albums. Look how big Beyonce is. Like I said he only sold because he is white and the media loves him.

@Jayla, Usher first single from all of his last two albums were R & B Climax, which didn’t sell like Suit and Tie. Suit and Tie is terrible. No one knew what direction Usher was going with his last album until his track list was put out. Look at the sales of Suit and Tie single compare to Climax, which Usher was nomimate for a Grammy for, but that song didn’t sell. Like I said Justin terrible song and album sold because he is white.

We have been seein usher and he has been consistently flip flopping between pop and r&b , before he released climax his las big singles were O.m.g. telling an artist to stick to one genre is like telling an actor that they can only play one type of character role. JT’s album is good, however, you cannot deny that most of it sounds dated. Usher didn’t just hop on the dance craze, he did both r&b and pop so before you say he sold out, why don’t you actually listen to the full “Looking 4 Myself” album instead of judging by a few singles that were released. And to be honest, I like the fact that Usher brought something different to the table by mixing sounds such as “Climax” and “Go Missin.”

Favorite Usher album = 8701. Confessions is a classic but I would rather hear U Got It Bad, U Remind Me, Tworkin it Out, U Don’t Have To Call, etc. Those were my jams.

Favorite Justin Timberlake Album = FSLS. I LOVE this new album but maybe in the same way that I love Confessions. FSLS was really when the long songs and mixing of songs came into play. He just switched up the formula and made it look cool.

Love both. Both have their own lane. HOWEVER I would by a Justin Timberlake ticket faster than a Usher ticket. JT just seems more creative and innovative. The album makes me feel like I’m at a sexy lounge spot. I mean that in the best of ways possible. It’s shitting on the all of the other pop music out there. He just #diditonem …*kanyeshrug*
