Video: Jay Sean - 'Where You Are'

Jay Sean has been gone for a minute, but he makes up for lost time by dropping two videos in one week. After linking up with DJ Pauly D in “Back to Love,” the Cash Money crooner debuts the lighthearted video for his own single “Where You Are.”

The Hannah Lux Davis-directed clip was shot in the Skid Row area of downtown L.A. earlier this month. While on his way to meet his date, the British heartthrob encounters all types of obstacles including getting coffee spilled on him while he rides the bus and being turned down by the bouncer at the bar.

“I’m going on a date, I’m late for the date,” Jay told Fuse. “I wake up late, hung over from the night before, and then everything that could possibly go wrong and every obstacle that could come in my way, comes in my way. But I’m still determined to get to where the girl is to get to where you are.”

He’s done over 30 videos, but this one represents him the best. “I’ve never done a video that is fully in line with my personality,” he said. “I’ve never had the chance to just be silly and be fun. Deep down inside, I just like to enjoy life and be silly.”

The song serves as the first single from his upcoming album Neon, due May 21. “The album is the best piece of work I’ve done to date, without a doubt in the last 10 years,” he told Rap-Up TV. “This album is a mixture of R&B, of pop, of some rock influence as well, of hip-hop influence. It really took us a long time to get it right, but I’m so proud of it.”
