Lil Wayne’s ‘I Am Not a Human Being II’ Aims for 200,000 in First Week

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne returns to the charts next week with the sequel to I Am Not a Human Being. But will he be able to reclaim his chart-topping status?

According to HITS Daily Double, I Am Not a Human Being II is on track to sell 190-210,000 copies in its first week based on one-day estimates. He will be competing with country crooner Blake Shelton, who’s looking at 155-175,000.

The first I Am Not a Human Being was released in September 2010 while Weezy was in jail, but still opened at No. 2 with first-week digital sales of 110,000 downloads. Following its physical release in October, the album sold 125,000 copies and jumped to No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The Young Money rapper’s previous album, Tha Carter IV, opened at No. 1 in September 2011 with sales of 964,000 copies.

This week’s chart-topper Justin Timberlake will easily hold on to the No. 1 spot next week following his blockbuster opening week of 968,000.

A surprised Timberlake reacted to the news. “Whoa… Speechless. Shocked. Numbers go up, numbers go down. I just hope this album makes your Summer… You already made mine #bestfansever,” he tweeted.

    @Zack,
WOW.. well im not surprised.. I heard the trina and nicki tracks and they were a mess in my opinion. I liked the two singles but I didnt continue to listen.

    Liam Reply:

@Question, the fact that billboard and latimes complimented nicki on Wayne album shows how much this was a disappointment of an album I like a few tracks but as a whole no.

    Zack Reply:

@Liam, thats true, it was horrible. The four already released songs were good, but the rest…. Soulja Boy’s verse sums up the album.

I’m more than convinced that he only sells high numbers if he sticks the word “Carter” in it.

    Kyle Reply:

@Ice, LOL! So true. I bet if he did call this album the “Carter 4″ it would do 750-900K.

He never sells a lot with his albums that aren’t tha Carter, artist should aim for atleast 700k – 1mil in the first week. But I won’t be suprised if it didn’t sell a lot since it’s not Tha Carter.

As “hater-ish” as this sounds, I wish I could say his sales on this album are low solely off the fact that the quality of his music has deteriorated and people are starting to not care about Lil Wayne musically. However, Wayne did do these numbers on the 2 albums he dropped in between Carter IV and then went on to sell close to a million in a week again. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Wayne at least does 600k+ when Tha Carter V comes out, if not 900k-1M again (especially if Tha Carter V is going to really be his last album like he said that one time). I listened to IANAHB2 all the way through and it was simply garbage. I wasn’t expecting it to be good by any means, but I always give Weezy a chance, and he’s consistently let me down the past few years. He’s not a respectable artist anymore, he has no hunger or passion for what he does.

it’s funny everyone dissing wayne, like really this album was an improvement on dedication 4 and on tha carter 4 this album while it isn’t great, some tracks are showing the old weezy coming back, he just needs that good kush to be number one again.

Whether you people like it or not, Lil Wayne will never fall off. He says on the last track of the album “And the watch says I’m the greatest of all times” which is true. Yall just hate on everything he puts out. You can’t tell me god bless amerika is garbage cause then garbage must mean master piece. He might not be as good as before but he is better than everybody else in this game. Tunechi goes hard!

@Zack, oh now its cause he’s a rapper. no its because he is wack. Wayne had albums that sold as much sometimes more than Jt’s in a week. Wayne is about to fade away like he should…..

The album is actually one of his best. He uses intellectual rhyme patterns, more than unique metaphors and saving best for last, he stayed on topic on every song. just listen.

you guys dont get it, his Carter albums are his best sellers not that im saying this is better but its actually a decent album it has a couple of bangers

people will always complain no matter what ! he did rock and people complain “ahh where is his hip hop roots hes a sellout” now he does a hardcore rap album not mainstream people complain bc he curses too much never satisfied

First off let me start by saying if you are not a true fan stay shut. Only people that should even have something to say are the true fans. Second it is very impressive for him to sell that much with hardly any promotion.i didnt know the album was out until four days later. When you say an album is wack that based off of opinion. And in closeing all of you that are posting negative blogs its funny because you know him but does he even know u. To me the album was solid not his best work but a good album.

  32. U know WHO I BE

The only reason that previous wayne albums got so many sales are that Hip hop is fucked up and Only fucked up people like you listen to it we old school cats only listen to the realest.
and yaal know what wayne you only rap about our lives on these streets and you take the money so fuck you you fucked up freak planet of the apes lookin ass muthafucka
