Nicki Minaj Partners with Beats by Dr. Dre for Pink Pill Speaker

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is popping pink pills. The rap diva has teamed up with Beats Electronics to launch a special pink edition of the company’s Pill portable wireless Bluetooth speaker.

Inspired by Nicki’s signature color, the pink Pill is available to purchase for $199 at AT&T retail stores nationwide and online at att.com.

“I am so excited about this product. It’s something I actually use,” said Nicki. “It’s a little tiny speaker that I can travel with yet the sound is incredibly loud and rich. I knew the Barbz would not only love it, but that they’d want it in pink! So, here ya go Barbz!!!! My PINK PILL!”

The Beats by Dr. Dre pink Pill commercial will premiere during “American Idol” on Wednesday, April 10. In the behind-the scenes clip, Nicki can be seen acting alongside comedian DeRay Davis.

In addition to the Pill, Nicki is gearing up for the launch of her apparel collection with Kmart and Myx moscato, which can be seen in the video for “High School.”

Wow. So outside of music, in just four years, Nicki has amassed the following:

    - Fragrances
    - MAC Lipsticks
    - OPI Nail Polishes
    - Clothing Line
    - Speaker Set
    - Alcoholic Beverages
    - Pepsi Endorsement
    - Adidas Endorsement
    - American Idol Gig

    Kudos to her work ethic.

I just wonder why popular female artists like Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Ashanti, etc. didn’t brand themselves like this at their prime?

Does Nicki have better lawyers that set up her deals? Is her ambition to be a mogul greater? I’m proud of all of her accomplishments; I just don’t understand why other women in the industry haven’t taken advantage of their positions in the same way.

Back in the day talent was enough for success. But today u have to do something outside your “thing”.

    [Reply]

    TJ Reply:

@BreezyLover, Tbh it wasn’t. Note that most of those “back in the day artists” who depended solely on talent & did nothing outside of their “thing”, now need to do reality shows to keep their lights on. It’s smart to do something that will build you an empire outside of music. At the end of all this, you want to have enough wealth to sustain you, your kids & hopefully their kids.

    TakeTheseFactsB*tch Reply:

@Realistically, SMFH! Y’all kill me acting as if Nicki is the only female rapper/entertainer to ever have endorsements etc.

Nicki Minaj is the “it” girl at this current moment so of course she’s going to have multiple endorsements, just as EVERY female artist when they 1st comeout.

You bring up Brandy but you fail to realize that she’s been in the game since 94! Having multiple tv shows, movies, albums, etc.

Lauryn Hill may not have had the same “exposer” as Nicki but she didn’t need it because her music alone certified her spot in the music industry today.

Not gonna lie, Nicki does her thing, but you fans OVER DO IT!

    C94B Reply:

    @Kwayzee,

It takes a delusional person or a stan to think that she’s still unanimously considered a “female rapper”. When the lambda listener thinks of Minaj, he/she thinks of Starships, Super Bass, pink wig, and that colorful wardrobe of hers.

She may have opened doors for female rappers, but she boxed them in too. She’s a pop star. Now every female newcomer will be compared to her, and because they might not be as colorful or pop-friendly as Nicki is, they won’t be given a chance outside of the world of Hip-hop. So, in my opinion, it’s a double-edged sword. She opened the door for special characters. Because she’s doing too much though, she’s becoming much bigger than that lane she’s supposedly in.

She’s winning again and again as of right now, but the medias won’t fail to mention her as such once she fucks up big time at something though

    [Reply]

    T Reply:

@C94B, when the casual listener listens that’s what they hear. When her fans hear they hear her bars, her wordplay her metaphors. She may not be the best but she’s far from as bad as people make her out to be and mind you Latifah caught flack for singing on her Black Reign album in 93.

Roxanne Shante dissed saying “Sold the f*ck out tryna go R&B/Now that shit is shady/Ya say “Ladies First”?/Well the first lady” Stepping outside of a traditional format is always panned but in hindsight Black Reign is a classic.

    [Reply]

    TakeTheseFactsB*tch Reply:

@T, Sooooo, your comparing Latifah’s “R&B” singing to Nicki’s POP music!

Singing has NOTHING to do with it, there are multiple female rappers who have sung on tracks including Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, Eve, etc… Hell even Lil Mama did some singing on her album, but yet the public didn’t respond as heavy to them as they did to Nicki.

Reason why? Because Nicki changed up her sound! You can’t even compare her “pop” songs to her “rap” songs. NOT once did anybody ever have to question Missy or Lauryn’s role in the music industry because their music was THEM not anybody else.

She was singing on “Moment 4 life” and the public didn’t have a problem with that, so I don’t get your point. Lol

    [Reply]

    C94B Reply:

    @T,

I made sure not to talk about the fans. For a reason. Fans are biased, and not all Nicki Minaj fans will be fans of other female rappers (the opposite actually, since Nicki keeps berating her female counterparts on her songs, or seems to be doing so). Could “HOV Lane”, “I Am Your Leader” or “Cone” ever be bigger hits than Starships or Super Bass ? Hell no. I think you’re missing the point.

    [Reply]

    Oh Reply:

@C94B, Nicki doesn’t have to embrace any of these girls, they never give her credit so why does she have to

    [Reply]

    CBFAN Reply:

@C94B, she started as a female rapper and went through the process to brand herself outside female rap… like she said.. you can’t take hip-hop away from her because she is hip-hop.. she grew up in the hood.. ya’ll forget where she started from so sit.

Why is everybody acting like lil Kim ain’t got nothing going outside the industry. I hope y’all know, nicki is signed to a lot of entertainment agencies, with an “A-LIST” team that gets her these deals. As long as nicki keeps her FANBASE at a strong Pace, Companies are gonna keep wanting to have her endorse their products. Lil Kim’s time is up, & she knows it, but she has a Franchise of hair salons, can still do shows sponsored by Hip hop radio stations, she also has the “A-LIST” connections to help promote herself & her artist ( Ciroc & Miley Cyrus).. All without a Strong machine backing her.
