Season 12 of “American Idol” is heating up. During last night’s show, the top six contestants performed songs they wish they wrote. Houston native Amber Holcomb chose to cover Beyoncé’s “Love on Top,” and it paid off, receiving praise from the judges.

“Beyoncé, you better look out honey child, wherever you at,” said Nicki Minaj. “You gave me everything I ever wanted in life, honey child. Werk!”

But it was Candice Glover who earned the biggest applause of the night with her performance of The Cure’s “Lovesong,” prompting Mariah Carey to get out of her seat and throw glitter on her.
