Lil’ Kim Taps Bangladesh to Executive Produce New Album

Lil' Kim and Bangladesh

Lil’ Kim has a sweet treat for her fans. The Queen Bee is back in the studio working with Bangladesh on her upcoming album.

Fresh off her one-night-only show at New York’s Gramercy Theatre, she dished about her first studio album since 2005’s The Naked Truth.

She has enlisted the platinum hitmaker (Lil Wayne’s “A Milli,” Beyoncé’s “Diva”) as executive producer. “He’s executive-producing it,” the Brooklyn rapper told Wetpaint. “And we do have other producers working on the album, as well.”

The lead single will arrive this summer, produced by Bangladesh. “The first single that’s coming out in late June/first week of July is produced by Bangladesh, for sure.”

While she wouldn’t reveal the title, she did drop a hint: “Sweet dessert!”

Kim has not set a release date, but she promises more surprises for her fans. “I got a lot of gifts for y’all in the month of June,” she said. “I’m a deliverer, I promise y’all.”

In addition to her own music, she has been fostering new talent including Tiffany Foxx and Young Goldie, who she’s worked with on a song called “1Hunnit.”

I love Lil Kim but we’ve been down this road many times: single in June, album, documentary, book, etc. Nothing has come to fruition. I think the worst was when she said she was going to drop Looks Like Money during her California stop of her Return of the Queen Tour and she dropped nothing.

Oh yes, the Christmas EP is the winner!!! Lil Kim had her fans glued to Twitter. She even had someone tweet that the EP was loading to Itunes and would be there the following Monday. Nope. Nothing happened.

    She’s worth the wait tho.

I am rooting for Lil’ Kim, I really am but I agree with a lot of the comments above, I’ll believe it when I see it. There is no denying her mark on female rap, but judging from her recent features, she sounds different and it seems like she lost her mojo. It’s not the same Kim I heard on her past four studio albums.

She’s original indeed. Not a Kim fan per se but I give credit where’s its due. You can listen to every song on every album she’s made. TALENT!

  22. Shutterbug

First things first: female hip-hop’s been dead-and as much hate as I’ll get for saying this…Kim killed it. (Nicki is just proof of how rotten the corpse has gotten)

Remember when females were more or less equal to the males in hip-hop, doin’ what the men did from their own female point of view? That brought us such greats as Salt-n-Pepa, MC Lyte, Yo-Yo, Queen Latifah, Roxanne Shante, Da Brat & Lady of Rage. Once Kim came along, it stopped bein’ about dat…at that point, if you wasn’t about a certain “image,” you wasn’t sellin’. (Missy was the ONE who dared buck that trend…unfortunately, her collabos with the ones caught up in there failed to make a true impression on their style).

Of course Nicki Minaj is proof as to how bad it’s gotten (Which is a shame, her mixtape days looked like she just MIGHT save it)…Foxy Brown was part of that “image” trend, but the few tracks we’ve heard from her sound like she’s abandoning that for the retro look…I thought Eve was going to save it, but after her hiatus she’s joined the “image” trend…do I even need to say which side both Azaelias (Banks & Iggy) are on?

But it’s all good…in July 2014, that “image” era will officially be OVER when the one who came the closest to bringing femceein’ back to its roots gets out of prison.

@NicKEN, Exactly…all these things are the trademark of a SELLOUT. (And it was a POP album, the title of highest selling rap album belonging to Kendrick Lamar’s debut)

    [Reply]

    Shutterbug Reply:

@NicKEN, All these being the trademarks of a SELLOUT…and Roman Reloaded was a CRAP POP album.

Femceein’ needs to go back to the streets and to the hardcore spittin’ and away from the “high fashion” it’s been on.

@NicKEN, All these are the trademarks of a SELLOUT. What’s money and power with no more respect (the one thing she did have in the underground days)? And RR was a POP album.
