Fantasia’s ‘Side Effects of You’ Enters at No. 2

Fantasia

Fantasia emerges triumphant on the charts this week. The R&B songstress’ fourth album, Side Effects of You, debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

The project sold 91,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It ties for her highest chart position, but lowest opening week sales of her career. Her previous album, 2010′s Back to Me, sold 117,000 copies.

Despite the solid showing, she wasn’t able to outsell Michael Buble’s To Be Loved (195,000).

Other debuts this week include will.i.am’s #willpower, which lands at No. 9 with 29,000. The Black Eyed Peas frontman’s last solo set, 2007′s Songs About Girls, bowed at No. 38 (21,000).

Snoop Dogg re-emerges on the charts as Snoop Lion with his reggae album Reincarnated. The Major Lazer-produced project comes in at No. 16 with 21,000.

Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience remains at No. 3 for another week, selling 74,000.

    observation…in 2007 selling 21,000 ranked you at #38….in 2013 selling 29,000 #9….drastic change….smh

but anyway…go Fantasia! 91,000 is great in current times, esp for a R&B artist…hope it goes gold…support urban music guys

This is great! It shows that she is a consistent seller. All her first week sales have been between 90k-200k. I have no doubt this album will continue to sell and become her FOURTH Gold certified album and hopefully platinum.

This just proves that R&B still sales as long as you’re consistent!

p.s. Poor #Willpower. Even after Scream & Shout was a hit

Go Fantasia! Up until about a month ago, I was concerned for her because the project wasn’t really buzzing and “Lose To Win” was not taking off. At that point, I would’ve predicted she was going to sell like 40-50K. I feel like after she performed on American Idol two weeks ago things started looking up. This album deserves all the success because like all her other albums, this is a solid body of work.

No way Justin Thicke is still selling that many copies of that garbage. Nielsen soundscan confess already. We know it’s bogus. There isn’t even a current hot single from it. FAIL! GO FANTASIA!

    She outsold:

    KELLY ROWLAND
    MELANIE FIONA
    ELLE VARNER
    BRANDY
    MONICA
    MIGUEL
    NE-YO

not bad for someone who had no hit single!!!

@Yaaassssss, Melanie Fiona can’t get promotion to save her life. Elle Varner is a new artist.

This is not bad, She has been everywhere for the past month. I really wanted to see 100,000 but as long as we keep supporting her , she should be good. good thing she is on RCA and only worked with a small group of people, less money to pay back!!

Where are the haters now!!? CRICKETS!!! We told you lowlifes that Fantasia Barrino CANNOT be denied, she’s the truth… When you called her names, put her down and sold her out, she turned to the music! NOW give her the PROPS and respect she deserves #1 in the country and #2 on Billboard is rather impressive! all of you that said she wouldn’t, couldn’t, and can’t…..SHE DID!!
