Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, & Wu-Tang Clan Join Hot 97 Summer Jam XX Lineup

Chris Brown

Chris Brown, Kendrick Lamar, and Wu-Tang Clan are among the superstar acts who will heat up the stage at Summer Jam. Hot 97 has revealed the official lineup for its annual concert.

The 20th annual radio-sponsored event will take place at Sunday, June 2, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with performances from Wale, Miguel, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, A$AP Rocky, French Montana, and Joe Budden.

Prior to the big show, Action Bronson, Joey Bada$$, A$AP Ferg, Vinny Cha$e, Smoke DZA, Bodega Bamz, Troy Ave, Kid Ink, and Radamiz! will perform on the Festival Village stage.

Summer Jam made headlines last year after Nicki Minaj pulled out at the last minute following a comment made by on-air personality Peter Rosenberg.

The hip-hop fest has featured memorable appearances in the past from Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, and the late Notorious B.I.G.

Kendrick, Wu-Tang, and Miguel. That is all.

F**k the rest. Yes, that includes Breezy. I’ve seen him already about 2-3 times at that show. The paying fans are probably tired of him as well. For this being the 20th anniversary of the most historic hip-hop show in the world, they should’ve opened their wallets and gotten the best of the best.

Thankfully, no YMCMB or MMG this year (I don’t count Wale b/c at least he’s the sane one and the most tolerable one in MMG).

    @Dan,

Stop lying to yourself, you know Chris is a great entertainer. You’ll still love it

@Ethan, Didn’t say he wasn’t. Just the same old tired routine. I’ve been to SJ many times before, and r&b artists don’t exactly play a lot of their unreleased/mixtape tracks. Yes, Breezy has a ton of new material for his fans, but only 1 or 2 new tracks off his new album will probably make the set list. Everything else is typical CB catalog tracks ie. Look at Me Now, Yeah 3X, She Ain’t You, Deuces, etc.

Kendrick, Miguel, A$AP, and even French Montana have loads of new/recent material to show the SJ crowd. It’s almost as if Hot97 relies on Chris Brown every year, or at least he’s the biggest artist they could afford lol.

You can never read a post without someone having something to say about Chris Brown. Negative, opinionated, whatever. No one asked you. If you like a certain person and you’re sick and tired of Chris Brown, stop letting his name keep your mouth wet. Smh. Most of the people trying to win tickets were in it for Chris. The man is still popping, regardless. No, he’s no Miguel but there wouldn’t be a Miguel if it wasn’t for Prince. Frank Ocean? His sexuality took over. No comment. Justin Timberlake? YES! He had time to study music. Give Chris his chance. Then again, he doesn’t need y’all to. God lifts the one’s the world look down on. Hell, he’s being named the first artist to put his name back on the map after his trouble; a TRIPLE threat. LOL. Hot 97 is about to be crazy! Lego!

@…, ummmmm this is a blog people can say what they want about whichever artist they so choose. People don’t have to like you fave just because you like them. Fall back.

this is really sad not one female performer performing at hot 97 summer jam hot97 need to get it together they should of least had ciara or kelly peform

    Dan Reply:

@keke, I agree. The NY/NJ crowd doesn’t though unless her name is Nicki, Kim, or Lauryn as proved last year. Last I saw Ciara perform live at SJ, she got a lukewarm response. Kelly Rowland, while talented, will unfortunately never get that proper respect from 50,000 plus fans from the tri-state area. Unless her big single features Beyonce…

This Line-Up is So/So (I Mean Except For The The Legends “WU-TANG CLAN”). The BET Awards 2012 Line Was Better Then Summer Jams 2013 Line Up, in my honest opinion. I Know Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Wale, & 2 Chainz will be turn’t up, but their isn’t a W.O.W FACTOR ARTIST from hip-hop who’s preforming at Summer Jam. G.O.O.D MUSIC, GRAND HUSTLE &YMCMB should have been included in the line up to take Summer Jam too the next.

Wayne, Drake, Nicki, T.I, B.o.B, Waka Flocka, Future, Ciara, Machine Gun Kelly, Rick Ross, Eve, Missy Elliot ect….

@Boom, some of the artists you mentioned can be/will be surprise guests for the artists already billed. Not all, but whoever is available on that night to perform. Surprise guests are often the highlight of the show every year.

  7. Okay-Okay.

I do believe that Summer Jam is missing a something or a couple of certain artist. I Like the choices Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Wale & The WU-TANG CLAN but the rest of the artist aren’t going to carry over Summer Jam. They should have included more artist that go on stage and preform music that has been recognized world wide. & they should of included more Females as well.

@Okay-Okay., Fabolous, French and Joe Budden WILL hold attention though for this specific market. Tri-State is all of their specific BEST market because there from here and do best here. NY’s been in love with Miguel as well from “All I want is you” til Adorn. 2 Chainz is also a no brainer
I think the line up is pretty solid for what u can do in this day and age

….wow summer jam is hella wack. I can’t tell who’s a headliner, because none of them are wow factors. I mean some are cool, and sh#t, but I wouldn’t pay to see. I’m sorry but really Wu tang? Yes they were great but like C’mon who really wanna see them unless you one of those old school hip hop heads. Ages 25 and up. I’m telling you it’s gonna get Luke warm response from these performers. All these people stand out on there own individual concert. Summer jam is a concert for club bangers…that’s it

NO NICKI? THANK GOD. LAST YEAR WAS A SHIT SHOW WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED HER AS THE HEADLINER.
I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO KENDRICK LAMAR, & WU-TANG THE MOST.

i’m agree this year artists sucks : no roc nation artists, no good life artists , no ymcmb artists, no hip hop legend artists like busta, missy , timberland etc or hot feminine artists !!! the list sucks here but it’s normal in june all great artists like future, TI, wayne, jay’z, kanye etc are in their own TOUR … they can’t be at summer jam
