New Music: Jennifer Lopez f/ Pitbull – ‘Live It Up’

Live It Up

Jennifer Lopez takes the dance floor hostage once again with “Live It Up,” the first single off her upcoming album. The pop megastar reunites with Pitbull on the high-energy RedOne production, which features a drum-patterned electro beat and a bilingual verse from Mr. 305 (“We don’t believe in defeat, that’s why we’re back for a threepeat”).

They recently shot a video for the song on the beach in Miami with model/actress Eva Marcille and director Jessy Terrero.

J.Lo’s 10th album is due in late 2013 on Capitol Records. She has been in the studio with Chris Brown and Future and will perform her new single at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards on May 19.

    Yawn.

While Mariah Carey is reinventing herself and bringing a new sound to radio, Jenny from the block is releasing another dance song with Pitbull and RedOne, whom she collaborated with on previous hits ‘On The Floor’ and ‘Dance Again’. And yes, it’s another song about partying and getting your life. No originality whatsoever. Catchy yes, but so repetitive and tired.

come on jlo live it up sound like crap I know u can do better then this crap cause it sounds like a one the floor part 2

If I have to hear this on the radio all summer, I am going to have to rip the radio out of the car and throw it at J.Lo’s head.

This song is 3-years ago, and it sucks thoroughly.

@bobs, couldn’t agree with you more! RedOne’s production has run it’s course. The ONLY artist that can make a song tolerable with his production is Lady Gaga, and that is a fact. Starships was an okay beat, but sadly, Nicki’s voice ruined the song for me. Jennifer needs to learn from this in the event that the single flops, but we’ll see…

This is very generic, to say the least. For anyone out there who had doubts about another J.Lo/Pitbull collabo, you were right. Sounds like any other Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj, will.i.am, or even Pitbull dance/electro track. I think it’s safe to say, the days of RedOne being used for production on J.Lo’s tracks come to an abrupt end. I had high hopes for her new record with Chris Brown, but she needs to slow the music down, reminiscent to her “I’m Real” hit. Anything but this, please!

    Tom Reply:

You don’t get paid big money when you don’t sell records or movies, that statement of her being the highest paid female artist, that was a publicity article on JLo paid by her management, is wasn’t a true article, it was a tabloids story??? If that was the case what was she getting paid for?? not in the move industry? and not in the music industry, so what was she getting paid big money??? Like I said this was a paid publicity tablids, you can pay for the same article if you had the money???

We’re talking about how J. Lo isn’t reinventing music or bringing anything to the music industry, but truthfully … when has she?!

Nothing she’s done in the past has been particularly earth-shattering. She doesn’t have a legacy, much less a tumbleweed to pass down. Going with Pitbull THREE TIMES really shows she won’t, and hasn’t, brought jack to the table.

    Props to dat ass though.

    [Reply]

  51. Neutral Person

this are the most stupid lyrics I’ve heard.
While the chorus is ok, the verses by Pitbull are ridiculous.
and what about this “let’s fuck tonight”-part? – what is this, seriously?

the song is just boring and really repetitive.

ON THE FLOOR was really good, even with Pitbull.
Dance Again sounded off already, but Live It Up doesn’t win, sorry.

I lost interest in Jennifer Lopez after Love? didn’t produce the right singles after On The Floor and Live It Up clearly shows that there is nothing left to build a good song around.

RedOne functions best with Lady Gaga or when he produces some ballads like True for Brandy (that was a killer!), but this is one of the worst singles by now in this year and I mean it.

Has nothing to do with Jennifer since I have many of her albums.

#LiveItUp – really? – while I don’t know if the # has a meaning in #thatpower (and yes this is where the idea was born), it seriously has one in #beautiful and using one in #live it up (even just for the lyrics video) seems like a really desparate move.

I am getting sick of J-Lo having these lead singles feat. Pitbull all the time. First it was 2011′s “On the Floor” from Love?. Than 2012′s “Dance Again” from Dance Again… the Hits. But on the other hand, I must admit, this song is a club banger, and I do believe it’s going to be a worldwide hit and like the other collaborations they did. This song is summer-party anthem. I can’t wait for the album.

I think Jennifer Lopez is the dopest and smartest woman in the industry, JLo is an all exclusive artist, she’s every where and her carisma is so captivating , I have to say that she indeed does not get enough credit for anything she does … Lol … I still love her and everything she does makes me tune in to see the outcome of it, she’s appealing and an All Super Mega Star in every sence of the word :-) she just brings good energy everytime I hear any thing that has to do with her .
