Behind the Video: Cassie f/ Fabolous – ‘I Love It’

Fabolous and Cassie

After her collaborations with Rick Ross and Wiz Khalifa, Cassie links up with Fabolous on “I Love It,” the latest release off her mixtape RockaByeBaby. The Bad Girl, or “Cassilina” as Loso calls her, takes us behind the scenes as she shoots in an underground club in the Chris Latouche-directed clip.

Over the weekend, Fab brought out Cassie to perform “Diced Pineapples” with him and Trey Songz at his L.A. show at Club Nokia.

    @meme, Dear meme,

Seven years after her only hit and still haters like you take the time to read her posts and comment how nobody’s checking her while you just did it yourself. So stick to your day job.

@Joey, Seven years after her only hit and shes still struggling. No one is hating, the writings are on the wall. The only ppl who believe something will happen with her career is Diddy. You go out on the street and pick anyone at random and there is a 95% chance that they can sing better than cassie. Its just not fair that she gets a budget and 100 first singles for this second album that was suppose to come out 5 years ago. Just please stop it.

I LOVE IT! That mixtape was hot Cassie. Haters back up let her do her thing. She aint trying to win some Grammys she being bad and I love it. She sounds good.

    meme Reply:

@DS, not tryna win a grammy? i hope so because you need an album to do that first.

I aint tryna hate but here is my issue with cassie. On a scale of 1-10 her talent level is -2. There are plenty talented fresh new artist out there that will never have a chance to be heard because they may not be as attractive as Cassie is. Cassie is probably the most beautiful woman in the business but she already had her chance. And then another chance, and then 2 other chances. Its not going to happen. Flatscreen

@meme, All this coming from a Rihanna STAN tho??? Rihanna isn’t any more talented than Cassie so……….. whats ur motive on even hating because truth be told, Rihanna been jacking Cassie swag since day one.

And FYI people ARE checking for Cassie. Just watch this shit blowup. Her mixtape is FUCKING GENIUS. Stop all that envy you hating ass hoe.

@meme, I don’t understand how Cassie’s lack of accomplishments effects the hotness of her mixtape. She’s making music and its good and it was free. Therefore there is nothing to complain about. She’ll never be as great as Rihanna but not everyone needs to be.

Cassie continues to date a billionaire and record when she wants to.

Cassie remains unbothered and whispers on top of beats on a mixtape, from producers your favorite artist cant even book for their album.

The music industry is politics so who you are connected to makes a difference, but some artist may not want a lot of features

  9. Meme

@Oh, you are Fukin crazy if you think Rihanna and Cassie’s talent level equal. Rihanna actually sings and can hit more notes than whisper. I mean have you heard Rihanna’s catalog? Cassie wouldn’t know where to begin if she tried to sing one of Rihanna songs. Also wat swag has Rihanna jacked from Cassie? Cassie just started being trendy a couple years ago, Rihanna been on the radar as a fashion icon. Y

RIHANNA STANS ARE MAD COS THEIR FAVE IS TAKING MONTHS TO SHOOT NEW VIDEOS AND CASSIE IS SHOWING Y’ALL HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE

    [Reply]

    lexi Reply:

@frank, I like both Rihanna and Cassie, but Cassie ain’t showing nobody nothing. I was looking forward to the Mixtape, but is was disappointing. The only thing she showed is that she can’t stand on her own. Almost every song had a feature. A lot of the artist outshined her own the song. Also, who cares if the video is not out, pour it up is platinum and stay is still sitting nice and pretty in the top 10, something Cassie hasn’t had in years.

@lexi, too bad critics don’t have the same opinion on cassie’s mixtape and it’s still the most downloaded female mixtape of all time on datpiff :)

I wonder if the record label staff downloaded a lot to build up hype

    [Reply]

    Natalie Reply:

@Dc, Just because some untalented pop singer’s labels buy songs on iTunes and pay the radios does not mean Cassie’s team do. #caught

And this is a mixtape, she has no “record label” behind her for it.It’s the reason it’s a mixtape and not an album boo.

  19. Dc

I wonder if the label downloads artis music to build up hype at the end we do not know who are real supporters and who are doing their job behind the scene.

I am talking about a mixtape I wonder if record label staff or others download for hype.

Seems like the same people are coming on here and defending the mixtape

I liked her 2006-2010 sound better from leaked music online and the album title electro love seemed more creative than this mixtape.

Just sounds like a poser bad girl image similar to rihanna when really I think fans would be soooooo excited to here a Ryan Leslie collab again

@Troy, have you not heard me & u?? cassie been a bad girl since day ONE. what does her being bad have to do with rihanna?

    and learn how to spell.

  21. Jo

I hope her album has less features. Mixtape sounds generic like I’m waiting for the whole turn up hard gangsta bad bitch r&b era to pass just like euro pop wanna here something new

    [Reply]

  22. Musicjunkie

@meme, only thing rihanna has ova cassie is a better team . Rihanna vocals are nothing at all to brag about . So stop . Why do yall continue to hate on the beauty for ? It u dont like her music dont listen . Shes dope in her own way & the mixtape is sick

    [Reply]

  23. MacK

I wish consumers would not judge artists on how they look.

This superficial shit is a huge part of why there is a lack of substance among female r&b and pop music.

    [Reply]

  24. Troy

@Carl I’m entitled to critique music of an artist who I listen to. Grow a backbone cause I’m not on here hating her personally.

The bad girl image and lyrics with this mixtape reminds me of Rihanna’s bad girl thug life image. I was feeling Cassie when she was a product of Next Selectiom cause Ryan Leslie gave her such a cool sound that was still edgy but also creative.

I would love for sophmore album to just do an Addiction pt. 2 with Ryan Leslie.

In the back of my mind I wonder if the comments are being trolled by industry folks

@Troy, this isn’t 2006 anymore you know and she’s not 18 anymore. she grew up and changed, if people don’t like the new cassie there’s nothing they can do about it.

If people wanna say they like or don’t like a song they can and there is nothing that Will or Carl can do about it.

Personally I think people get mad when you don’t like what they like but they will just have to deal with it
