Iggy Azalea Eyes September Release for ‘The New Classic’

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has been making the media rounds with T.I. this week. She stopped by “Sway in the Morning” on Tuesday, where she revealed that her debut The New Classic is due in September.

The Australian MC plans to release the album worldwide at the same time. “It will probably be the first week in September,” she said. “Fortunately for me, I have a great problem to have, which is that I’m trying to figure out an international release date so it can release in every country at the same time.”

The project has already spawned the singles “Work” and “Bounce,” and next up is “Change Your Life” featuring T.I. “It’s a big record,” Iggy told Rap-Up TV. “I think it will be good to have T.I. on that single and just show that we’re together, we’re still family. It’s definitely not me trying to make my silent exit from Hustle Gang.”

The album may also feature a collaboration with Rihanna called “Designer Drugs.” “It sounds like if someone was playing an acoustic guitar, but then you went out into a tepee in the middle of the desert and got really drunk and started hallucinating,” she said.

During her visit to Sway, she also freestyled about her ex-boyfriend. Watch her interview and acapella freestyle below.

imo, i don’t think she is known enough in the US to drop there. She might do ok in the UK tho.

Could she please answer the question of what happened to Xtaci and why Tip’s not pushing them after they’d been signed to Grand Hustle for SEVEN-EIGHT YEARS now?!

lol okay why does her voice change? i understand that a lot of people drop their accent when they do vocals, but ive never heard anyone but country singers get a southern accent when they sing

Iggy is very pretty but a lot of people here in the U.S. are not convinced by her craft from what Ive seen. She already has the white rapper thing going against her and then she’s a female and to top it all off she is Australian. Its hard for some of us to get who Iggy is. For whatever reason when I hear her rap I feel like she is trying to sound a certain type of way which can come off a little corny. Like I said I think she is very beautiful tho but thats where it stops for her. I cant quote one lyric from her that stands out.

I agree. Her voice sounds strange when she starts rapping and “corny” is a really good word for it. I like her and her music, but there is something a bit off about the whole thing.

I agree. I would be more open to her persona if she would not carry herself as if she is a good rapper, but she honestly thinks she is. To me, it’s one thing to not be good at the thing that gets you paid, it’s another to be blind to the fact that you’re not good at it. A pretty woman with a good head on her shoulders, but not someone who I can really fuck with as a rapper and that’s a pity.

@Lisa, Actually she doesn’t. She even confesses her learning to rap throughout the mixtapes

    Lisa Reply:

Did she mean that she heavily progressed throughout her mixtapes or that she actually learned to rap? Not that I don’t believe you, but that would be an odd thing to say…

    Azalean Queen Reply:

@Lisa, learning to rap is a bit of a stretch but more working on her craft

@L’orel, So what? Eminem is a white rapper, Mac Miller is a white rapper? Macklemore is a white rapper?

Fuck all you hater’s talking shit about her accent and rap voice. Two different things…Random example but does Mystikal talk how he raps? Oh ok.

ANYWHO, September is round my birthday so gon head and drop that shit Iggy.

@Still Amazin, good point on the voice thing. plus most british singers sound american when they sing.

Rapping is not talking. But Jay-Z sounds like he’s from New York and T.I. sounds like he’s from Atlanta, an accent is something that’s a part of you. Not that I think everyone should be annoyed by the fact that Iggy’s accent turns into something else when she raps, but denying the fact that it’s unusual for a rapper to do that is a bit pretentious to me.

    Ka.ne Reply:

@Lisa, Not only that but Iggy revealed, in an interview with Hot97 (it’s on YouTube), that she puts on a southern accent when she raps because she thinks it sounds “cool”, Which curves all arguments. She’s admitted that she’s putting it on.
