Jay-Z Reveals ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’ Tracklisting

Timbaland, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, and Jay-Z

Jay-Z is taking his new album straight to the people. Instead of unveiling the tracklisting for Magna Carta Holy Grail online, he allowed his fans to be the first to see it.

As part of the rap mogul’s “New Rules,” Jay-Z’s publicist handed out black binders to the first people who met up with her in Brooklyn on Saturday. Some of the lucky few who scored a copy opened it to discover the tracklisting.

The album contains 15 tracks including the previously released “Open Letter.” Song titles were listed on each page, but the lyrics were blacked out. No features, if any, were mentioned.

One of the fans who obtained a copy was journalist Touré. He tweeted the song titles, while another fan uploaded a video with the booklet (via Miss Info).

On July 4, Samsung will release 1 million free copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail to Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, and Note II owners. The album features production from Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell, and Rick Rubin.

@NICOLAS, The Blueprint had no features except Eminem on Renegade, and The Black Album has no features at all, and it’s arguably a classic as well. If there’s any rapper that can carry an album alone, it’s Jay-Z.

The way Kanye West, Justin Timberlake & Jay-z’s way of releasing their albums this year reminds me of the good ol’ days back in the mid 90′s when rappers didn’t announce 10 different release dates & then have 10 different push backs or drop 3-4 singles to see how they did on the charts before releasing the album!

@NICOLAS, because these are real artists!

@Anthony, no lies here! These are people who take their craft seriously and I can respect that. In the golden era that I like to call the 90s era of music, you didn’t have too many artists pushing out 50-11 singles and albums every year. They took time to create an album. They gave us content based on their lives at the time. That’s why you don’t see JT, Kanye, Hov, Beyoncé, Adele, and a few others releasing every year. We don’t get tired of them until they hit their promo trail sometimes. You’ll also notice that these are the artists that tend to sell better compared to others.

@NICOLAS, That’s real still; but you’ve got to respect that the artists that do release a few singles first and push back dates are new and still have to promote as much as possible. They need the sales, they aren’t guaranteed them like Jigga, Ye and JT.

this is a very dumb comment. firstly not many artist have the followers that jay, JT and YE have. When big name artist are ready to release albums they can release 1 single with a firm release date with no push backs because they have the support to make it solid. Other artist unfornately have to depend on a major hit single to carry the sales of the album. A c-list artist releasing a poor performing first single followed by a album makes 0 sense. Use your head dumb fuk

@meme, I’m glad that there are people who really know this industry and not just go and talk like their favs are the “real” artists and think they know how music business work.

Do you work for a label or something? Just asking.

I reckon the album be good but without features ten out of ten I’m probably give the album 9.5 out of 10 but if his new album sounds like his old stuff then 10 out of 10
