Jeremih Hires Diddy As His Manager

Jeremih is taking his career to the next level with some help from Diddy. The R&B singer has hired the Bad Boy mogul as his manager.

“As of two months ago, P. Diddy and James Cruz actually took over my management,” Jeremih told Rap-Up TV at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. “I’m out here doing a lot more work now.”

He was honored that Puff wanted to work with him. “I means a lot to me as an artist, as a writer. For Puff to acknowledge my talent and my gift, it’s a good thing.”

Diddy will also serve as executive producer of Jeremih’s upcoming album Thumpy Johnson, due in early 2014. “What I make is kind of like drugs for your ears,” he explained. “It’s definitely for the trunk, it’s definitely for the streets. It’s definitely for everybody. It’s a lot of thump for your trunk and just crack music for the streets.”

So far, the album features French Montana, Busta Rhymes, Diddy, and Lil Wayne, who appears on the lead single “All the Time.”

Y’know, I would lament about a promising artist pretty much throwing his career away by working with Puff, but at this point, it’s his fault whatever happens to everything he’s built thus far.

Puff’s in this for Puff; he’s shown by the way he handles Bad Boy that he’s not the type of executive to handle young careers. But the thing is, he has a well known reputation for mistreating promising acts (Dream, Total, Faith Evans, The LOX, Craig Mack, Cheri Dennis, and Janelle Monae, among many others) and at this point, you can’t feel sorry for someone willing to subject themselves to his antics.

As much as I like Jeremih and think he has a lot of potential, this was as wrong of a move as he could have made.

@…, Exactly! At this point, Diddy’s reputation has been solidified, so it’s hard to feel bad for people who are willing to become another name on the list. But I just don’t understand why artists are still starstruck by Diddy when he hasn’t done anything culturally relevant in the past decade… literally!

It just goes to show you: if you have a big enough ego, people will just believe you are actually important.
