New Music: Jay-Z f/ Justin Timberlake – ‘Holy Grail’

Magna Carta Holy Grail

Jay-Z released his 12th album Magna Carta Holy Grail at the stroke of midnight. Some already have the album on repeat, while others may still be struggling with their Samsung devices. But once you push play, the first song you’ll hear is “Holy Grail” featuring Justin Timberlake.

J.T. opens the track with a haunting hook, penned by The-Dream and co-produced by Timbaland. Jay grapples with fame and shouts out his daughter on the song, which features a sample of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

“Blue told me to remind you ni**as/ Fuck that shit ya’ll talk about,” raps Hov, while using MC Hammer, Mike Tyson, and Kurt Cobain as examples of celebrities who got caught up in the spotlight.

Jay-Z’s Life + Times has posted the track on YouTube. Stream it and read the lyrics below.

@meme, please get your grammer together … it’s “are cool”. also get your facts straight, justin and beyonce went out on a couple of dates when they were 18 or 19 years old. she started dating jay z around the age of 21 or 22. she’s got a past just like jay z, justin and everyone else. so what’s your point? what does it have to do w/ the music? absolutely nothing, you are just bitter.

Great song. I feel like Jay should have been on the song more though. Best songs on the album: Picasso Baby, Oceans, F.U.T.W., Heaven, Part II (On the Run) and Nickels & Dimes.

This track is crazy! I know people are going to hate with their hating ears…..Epic!

The range of Justin’s voice is on display here. This is why i never payed attention to the comparison to Robin Thicke with him.. He’s more versatile as a artist.

    karamelkisses Reply:

@Jay9596, i totally agree. robin thicke is stuck in and on that same falsetto he’s been trying to make relevant for years. justin has a range and is much more versatile when it comes to his music. it’s amazing all these people trying to compare justin and robin … fact is robin should thank kevin hart for making him somewhat relevant due to trhoh. but when he (robin) releases his album, let’s see how many of you “fans” are going to buy it. the 20/20 did 983,000 week one and 3 months later it’s still in the top 10 on the charts.

i wish i understood this song more. then i would have felt better about it but im not feelin it. everybody says that a jay-z song is gr8 but only becuz of who jay-z is, not even what he’s sayin wit the lyrics. thats the prob wit rap today. its all about who the person is, not what the person is sayin. #nothinbutthetruth

yeezy4life is speaking the truth. this album is the most over hyped, over marketed over, rated album in history.

horrible. lyrics are bad, beats are off. chemistry is none. sorry it is what it is.
