Wale scores his first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week with The Gifted.

The third album from the D.C. rapper sold 158,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It marks Wale’s second top 10 album following 2011′s Ambition.

Last week’s No. 1, Kanye West’s Yeezus, drops to No. 3 with an 80% decline in sales. After selling 327,000 copies in its first week, the album only sold 65,000 in its second week.

@thedon, calm down little girl. 158k is good, not bad at all but it’s not mind blowing.

@thedon, you do realize that had Cole released on the same day as originally planned Cole would’ve been #1 right?

I felt so Bad I couldn’t get his album this week cause I was broke but I’m really happy for him and I knew this was his time.

Your third album is always the one you need to solidify your mark. Wale aint going nowhere!

Good for him!!! I am also very happy for India.Arie’s “SongVersation” landing a top 10 debut. She literally had NO PROMO so I’m surprised it did as good as it did. It’s her best album since “Voyage To India” IMO.

Gotta suck knowing you’d still be in search of a #1 album if J. Cole hadn’t moved Born Sinner a week up. Wale & his stans conveniently forget that part of the equation lol

Wale & J. Coles albums were both great…but I was suprised that i thought that Wale’s was just better. Really deserves a number 1 album as he is always gettin sh!t n the media.

Nevertheless they are 2 talented young rappers…both a level above most atm.
Them with Drake, Kendrick, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, A$AP, Wiz, Tyga & Kid Ink (Not well known yet but very talented) .
