Ciara Performs ‘Keep on Lookin” on ’106 & Park’

Ciara

Ciara returned to “106 & Park” on Wednesday for the third day of her week-long takeover. Looking sexy and sophisticated in a fur-lined blazer, thigh-high boots, and wide-brimmed hat, she performed the attitude-driven cut “Keep on Lookin’,” oozing swag while strutting across the stage with her two dancers.

Her self-titled album is expected to sell 55-65,000 copies in its first week, according to HITS Daily Double.

Meanwhile, her single “Body Party” jumps 35-25 in its 11th week on the Billboard Hot 100, while the Nicki Minaj-assisted “I’m Out” enters at No. 50.

I like this song but the performance was kind of mediocre. I was expecting her to sell around that much which is enough to make her debut at #2 behind Jay-Z. That’s a WIN if you ask me!

    DEANNA Reply:

@Kyle, Yes, it is a win! She’ll be number 1 in Europe. If she had all day Fuse days with her videos and other promo all year long, her numbers would be even better. The rappers take up all the radio airplay time, and most of the female performers get very little to no airplay where I live or in the clubs. So she did GREAT! for such limited exposure. GO CIARA!

@Kyle, Most R&B albums aren’t selling because most of them lack proper promotion, they entail less than impressive material or they are targeted to niche markets. Also, Fantasia’s Side Effects of You did good enough but it hardly reflects an upturn, especially when compared to the greater sales of her peers. Let’s hope the next 14 months are more productive or else the genre will continue to slip further into oblivion.

55-65k first week is once again a FLOP lmaoooo. Thought she would do more considering shes about to have the #2 album of the week supposedly. Shes been Everywhere this whole week promoting i would have thought she would do atleast 100-120k. This girl works hard but lets face it her career is pedaling in place like a stationary bike.

    [Reply]

    Girl Bye Reply:

@Face The Facts, lmao at stationary bike. And i agree her career really isnt going anywhere her music has absolutely no growth if anything shes going backwards. None of her music has substance the only really hot record she has released is Body Party. And the video snippet concept is really a dumb idea cause what songs is she going to release as singles if shes releasing every single one with a snippet video? Shes really really desperate to sell this go around. Epic is losing a lot of money once again. 65k is a certified flop and with this amount of promotion that is an epic fail.

@Face The Facts, yea lets face the facts, if you didnt become a major act before 2007 you were going to struggle. no on relates to ciara because she’s pretty hardworking and positive. Rihanna got girls wanting to be bad beyonce has family and success k michlle/k cole/ fantasia have a story to tell. Ciara can’t relate because she’s a talented hard working gorgeous 27 year old who hasn’t gone threw anything. But to have 2 top 50 songs , one of which is at 25 after loosing everything isn’t impressive? Tell me what you did in your life? …………….I’ll wait. PS I’m not a ciara fan to begin with.

wow im shocked only 55-65k will all this promo. Yeah her career is over i wonder if Epic will keep her around. Shes better off going independent. 4 music videos released 2 of which were scrapped. How are u only going to sell that much and you have been promoted more than any artist out right now? 3 days in a row on 106 and park, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Michael, Bet Awards, Jimmy Kimmel, etc. Even Fantasia sold more and she hardly had any promo. I dont understand i really dont. Her fans dont support her.

Body Party is the only really dope song on her album and also Backseat Love which is the itunes bonus track. I am really disappointed with her new lp. Only 11 songs. She needs to come harder than this. And releasing video snippets to most of your songs on the album just screams trash to me. Im not impressed with ciaras music at all she needs growth.

You all are defeating her before she can even continue to push the record. Her album leaked a month before the release, but that’s no excuse to be honest. Most people want to focus so much on first week sales and determine the outlook on the entire album. 2 songs off the album are now in the top 50 on Hot 100, that’s not a total loss. Longevity is the key here and I’m so sick of people loving to see her lose. While 60k isn’t spectacular with all the promo she’s had, in Ciara’s case it’s all about delivery afterwords.

I don’t really care if anyone agrees. I’m a fan and I’m positive this isn’t the end. The album has been getting so much hype and positive reviews. Who knows if it’ll succeed, but you don’t know just based on first week sales. Many artist start low and finish strong. Just saying. Why can’t Ciara do it? She still has a tour and other outlets to do well with this album. Give the girl a chance and stop giving in to her defeat.

    [Reply]

    Truth Reply:

@Deontae, Do you have any idea how many other albums are being released after this week and throughout the rest of the summer. Ciara wont even remain in the top 10 after next week. There will be no longevity with this album its gonna come and go just like her last 2.

    [Reply]

    Deontae Reply:

@Truth, maybe so, but I disagree. Just because these albums are coming out doesn’t affect Ciara none what so ever. She could still do well or maybe just fail. I’m just not counting her out because it appears so by the first week sales. Next argument.,,

You know what…I’m absolutely disgusted by the amount of hate and shade you guys throw at Ciara (no I’m not a stan). Ya’ll ALWAYS seems to bring up and compare her to The Bajan Billygoat (Rihanna) but FAIL to mention that the bxtch has had a “cookie cutter” career from the beginning. Rihanna barely writes ANY of her music, can’t entertain to save her life (taking SHOTS on stage, canceling hella shows) has and had her career served to her on a silver platter, basically praised for being a public roller, and is dragging EVERY one down (Ciara, Chris Brown, Drake, and her DELUSIONAL “navy” who thinks shes a God or legend) while clawing her way to the top and being catty. Haven’t we seen these types of movies on BET? Didn’t we see the ending result? You won’t and can’t be at the top forever. That’s where and why artist like Ciara are important and vital to the industry.

Ya’ll underestimate her WAY too often and love to put her down but one thing she has maintained throughout her career is persistency. I am almost positive that when and if Ciara releases Overdose her career will skyrocket to places her team intended for her during that “Love, Sex, Magic” BS. Her album leaked a WHOLE MONTH ahead of its schedule, and her music was never groundbreaking to begin with, so I feel she did pretty good considering she’s flopped HARD the last two. If she or her team was smart she’d make smart marketing moves like trying to get a joint album with Breezy (Janet and Michael “entertainment”) or aim to collaborate with Janet herself.

    YouGonHearIt Reply:

@Sheen, I LOVE YOU for this comment! its such a crying shame that if not for anything at all, people cant respect this girls persistence, positivity and keeping up her struggle! shes such an inspiration on never giving up on what u do best no matter how much u fail and people cant even be supportive of the fact that this is the era shes been working so hard for! for rihanna i aint even gonna go there! the decline for her presence has already started, what with people screaming Beyonce’s name at her own concert!

    [Reply]

    Preach Reply:

@Sheen, So your telling me Rihanna has had a cookie cutter career from the beggining? Nah i dont think so check the billboard charts Rihanna has been consistant since she first started. She doesnt write most her songs but she damn sure has talent and is one of the biggest selling artists of our time. And sorry to tell u hunny but she is a living legend. Just because your girl cierror cant get her career together dont hate on the next bitch. Its not Rihannas fault ciaras music sucks.

    [Reply]

    Sheen Reply:

    @Preach,

Obviously you skipped elementary school. “Cookie Cutter” is a another term for template. As in when you use a cookie cutter to shape cookies. Has NOTHING to do with her billboard history. I have nothing against Rihanna. She’s very unique. But unique and talented are two words that should not be confused when speaking about her. Ya’ll praise the shxt that comes out of Rih’s crack and I really just don’t understand it. Sure she’s the more popular of the two, but just like in HS, we all know what happens to the popular kid who thinks nobody can beat or top them. Talent and persistency will ALWAYS prevail over popularity.

Get your head out of Rih’s a$$ I mean seriously. The moment that people start to compare Rih to REAL GREATS like Bey, ignorants like you have NOTHING to say, but love to compare her to people who aren’t selling as much as her. Sales don’t necessarily mean you’re talented sweetheart. Rihanna is has it MADE, always had, always will. If Jay-Z was managing Ci, I’m pretty sure she’d be one the biggest acts out today. The ONLY reason Rih STILL chooses to “bully” Ci is because she fears something. At this point it may not be sales, but you NEVER know when a change of events could occur. God doesn’t like ugly, by ANY means.

    [Reply]

    DEANNA Reply:

@Sheen, If Jay was managing Ciara he’d PERSONALLY buy her music up, to give a false impression of success, just like he does with Bey and rihanna. Ciara is a decent honest hard working person who has no interest in ill gotten fame. She wants her success the right way, and that is why all decent people love her.

if u really think about it this era was another failure from the start. Ciara announces title of her album is “One Woman Army” releases “Sweat” as first single, gets scrapped after a couple of weeks. Releases new first single after 2-3 months (Sorry) which fails to make impact on radio or billboard. Releases second single “Got Me Good” which may i add was a terrible single choice. it did absolutely nothing on the charts. Singles and album get scrapped. Starts from scratch with new self titled album and first single. At this point its just dragging out. Ciara is a very confused artist. She always has been when it comes to releasing music. After the Evolution its just been downhill.
