New Music: Justin Timberlake – ‘Take Back the Night’

Take Back the Night

Justin Timberlake made a huge comeback with The 20/20 Experience, and he keeps the momentum going with the sequel. The pop superstar sets the weekend off right by debuting “Take Back the Night,” the first single from his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience — 2 of 2, due September 30.

J.T. spreads some feel-good vibes on the Michael Jackson-inspired tune, which was produced by Timbaland, Timberlake, and J-Roc.

The album will feature 11 new tracks and a special surprise from Justin. “I originally recorded a massive amount of material and decided on the 20 tracks that I wanted on the album over a year ago,” said Justin. “But, when I was mixing and going through all of the songs there were so many that I loved—I couldn’t resist… I had to throw in something extra on the 2nd half.”

Head back to the dance floor with Justin’s new jam.

without timbaland productions this guy would flop. the beat is the only good thing. every singer would destroy the beat with his vocals but this flop is doing nothing

@Brian,Sooooo….. Without Quincy MJ would have been just another artist right???? All the greats have 1 producer that they feel comfortable with and have a chemistry with. Justin is no different…. Justin is one of the best ALL AROUND entertainers of our time…. He can not only lay it down in the studio, but he puts on a MEAN live show as well.. He’s very talented With or Without TIMBO.

JT taking influences of the legendary MJ rock with you and don’t stop till you get enough era and bringing disco back! Cool summer vibe tune!

If his last album is anything to go by, I’m sure JT will release all the “ok” songs as singles and leave the best songs on the album. This is good but I know he’s got some dope stuff ready for us.

This is dope people that hate on JT this is the type of music he grew up listening to and some are going to hate and say I want a track like sexyback as if the music industry since then hasn’t tried to duplicate that song.

I like how it’s reminiscent of MJ. But otherwise I’m not really feeling this track. Doesn’t really capture the listener.

This track is CRACK! JT is absolutely killing it this year…. He shut the entire game down in 2013.Im very impressed. I think on part 2 he’s going to go back to up tempo songs. I can’t wait to hear it

Definitely gives a “Don’t Stop Till YOu Get Enough” disco era feel. I like how songs like “Blurred Lines” “Get Lucky” and the music JT and Bruno Mars make are popular. Real music is starting to make a comeback over that tecno BS. 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) is selling one million the first week easily

I like it. It certainly has that MJ and Earth, Wind, & Fire vibe. “Real music” is such a fleeting term; 10 years from now people will swear that Ke$ha was ‘real music’. What is real?

The only thing that I don’t care for is the vocals. There are very ‘passe’; just kinda there without energy. When MJ and EW&F sang those early 80′s post-disco tunes there was an urgency in the vocals. I wish there was some character or ‘umph’ in his singing.

Otherwise, it’s a nice breezy throwback. Since he’s JT, it’ll likely do well.

I’m definitely digging this new JT track. I just find it mad coincidental that they decided to drop it ONE DAY after Robin Thicke released his second single. Every since RT did that interview basically saying JT swagger jacked him, I couldn’t help but notice that they’ve been performing at ALL the same events, working with the SAME producers, and releasing material around the same time. May be coincidental, but This is interesting.

    Bring on 20/20 pt. 2!

@Sheen, when did Thicke ever “basically” say JT swagger jacked him? Please link us to this alleged interview you speak of, because no one ever heard of this until now.

provide proof of your claim immediately. we’ll wait

    @ewrt,

On Justin Timberlake [HOT 97 interview]
He actually helped me a lot because his sound went more R&B or more soulful, and that’s what I’ve been doing my whole career so that really opened up a door.[...]

In summarization, RT is saying BECAUSE JT went more soulful, something he’s “BEEN” doing (which is a lie) – it brought recognition to HIS music. There was slight shade behind that statement. We ALL know JT has been incorporating soul and RnB in his music SINCE NSYNC and even after… “Gone, Girlfriend” — “Cry Me A River” … RT started off singing pop, debut single : When I Get You Alone” (which was a huge FLOP that made him switch to what he’s “been doing his whole career”) as well so for him to make that statement made no sense.

Learn your facts and do your research. I’m a music head and know what I’m talking about. So take 9 seats… FOH!

    BYE FELICIA!
