@Natasha, BET was created b/c MTV refused to play black artists (michael jackson was the one to break the barrier) so stop it!

People always say bet is too ghetto and black because they acknowledge rnb and hip hop more than the vmas, but the vmas acknowledge pop rock and hip hop more than rnb. That’s why rnb is not mainstream anymore and its sad to still support this mess

MTV is so against Azealia. They never play her videos and throw Iggy in our faces C O N S T A N T L Y. Azealia is obviouslythe better artist and I’m extremely dissappointed she didn’t get nominated for best new artist. Whatever, she’ll get nominated at the grammys

Don’t bash the VMAs for being mostly for white artists, unless you’re also going to bash the BET Awards for being mostly for black artists. That being said, real hip-hop won’t have a chance a here. Macklemore will win best rap video easily because he’s very poppy and white people love him, and he’s been on the radio more than any black hip-hop artist. JT, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift will dominate the majority of the other categories. The only rap artists that might perform on there this year are Jay-Z, Kanye, and Drake. I’d love to see Kendrick & Cole perform there, but they’re probably not crossover enough for the VMAs. As for R&B, I know there was a movement to get Ciara on there on twitter, I doubt it, but we’ll see. Other than that, I wouldn’t be surprised if Miguel or The Weeknd perform, that’s about it though.

  15. Really B?

No Beyonce? No Nicki? No Azealia? Just 1 nomination for Iggy? Wow, the show will flop already. The only way it wont flop is if Chris Tucker hosts or if Bey or Cici w/ Nicki performs. Kinda disappointing! This years BET awards might actually be the best music award show of 2013!

P.S. Beyonce isn’t performing The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour that night.

so pick your face up tramp!

@Aya, When I said “Just 1 nomination for Iggy?”, I said that in a positive way as in she deserves to get more than just one nomination.

JT gets a pass from me, but of all the venues to host a VMA, why the hell are white artists so prominently nominated on a show taking place in BROOKLYN? Someone tell me that. At the very least, they better have some great hip-hop artists perform on the show like Drake, Kendrick, A$AP, and possibly Jay-Z to balance out the “race card.” Otherwise, this’ll be the Macklemore/Taylor Swift show, and I know this show can be much more epic than that. For that, they should’ve stayed in LA. This is Brooklyn, baby!

They are so fkn shady to Rihanna. Really only 1 nomination?? I bet if she released a video for Pour It Up, she would have had more. Oh well,

Congrats to Rihanna on her nomination for “Stay”. Well deserved and hopefully she wins.

Great to see J.Cole, Miguel, Kendrick, Drake, ASAP, and Iggy nominated as well.

    Can’t wait for the show.

Wtf? This list is so wack.

  20. Liquorice

    Well, well, well.

This was a very messy year so I mean you guys should have expected this. I’m so sick of the “race talk” to be brought up. I mean the VMAs nominate successful songs from known artists. I do think they should bring back “Best R&B Video” so that more R&B acts can be nominated.

Congrats to Janelle!! I’m so happy for her music video being nominated! A big congrats to Beyoncé for being nominated for a performance. And we cannot forget the beautiful Lana, Ride and National Anthem are flawless music videos, she should have been nominated for Video of the Year but at least she got a nomination in the professional categories.

I hope the show has sick performers. I hope the show will be better than last year because that was an absolute bore. This is their 30th show and seeing that Gaga will come back, she will definitely perform. It is also possible for Beyoncé to perform because she has no show on August 25th. If Gaga and Beyoncé will perform, we will have a perfect show. We all know the last times when they performed at the show. If both Beyoncé and Gaga are present at a show, they will make the ratings go sky-high.
