Video: Kanye West – ‘Black Skinhead’

Kanye West

Kanye West gets animated in the dark video for “BLKKK SKKKN HEAD” aka “Black Skinhead,” the first music video from his album Yeezus. In the interactive clip, directed by Nick Knight, a computer-animated Kanye runs shirtless across the screen, wearing leather pants, a gold chain, and Yeezys.

The visuals, which debuted on his website, allow the viewer to adjust the motion speed and sound and capture still images of the screen.

An unfinished version leaked earlier this month, prompting Kanye to take to Twitter. “Me and Nick Knight have been working on this video for 5 months and for creatives it’s heartbreaking when something like this happens,” he said.

The CGI in this video is next level, no one is doing this, keep it going Kanye these people won’t get it, only the few, the others are too busy worried about your personal life, while you are breaking barriers, hey don’t see you coming. Great colab with Nick Knight. I love it.

@Nikki, There is absolutely nothing groundbreaking about this video. Some Kanye stans just need to accept the fact that he often doesn’t have the product to justify all his egotistical rants.

Such an amazing song and such a mediocre video. I don’t understand the need for an entirely shot CGI video of the same thing for 4 minutes. It just felt like nothing when thinking of all the time he said he spent on it.

Not his best vid, but at least ifs not another one of those dreadful lil wayne/future videos. Obviously the song wouldnt have fit either. It’s good Kanye always (succesfully) tries to push the boundaries, but this vid isnt my favourite. Akbum and sing are both great though.

Hate it or love it, the truth is Kanye has tried something completely new with every single aspect of this album. The projected promotion, new sound, CGI music video, it’s refreshing.

DISSATISFIED….repetitive “new” technique for music video appears as a one-trick projection and performance! The video should have captured other visuals against powerful lyrics instead of bombard viewers with various shots of the artists. Also, the foundation of creativity is great story telling. Therefore, the animation should have modeled a story in conjunction to the lyrics. All in all, seeing this video was very hard to watch. I think this artist should have invested in an animation team that could provide an environment other than a black room. The route taken and executed was the easy way out. “If you’re going to go big go hard!”

Did anyone listen to the “rants” Kanye had earlier in the year BEFORE his album came out? Its quite obvious given his statements then and his behavior now that he has lost creative control of a good portion of his craft. (Remember the reason Dave Chapelle turned down 50 million?). This is a perfect example of that…

Fan of Kanye’s early work, and respect the creativity but all in all this was WACK!!!! Hate it or luv that boy makin money. I’d luv him to stand by some of his political n historical rhetoric displayed in his later work with action n not an ignorant uneducated sense of entitlement

If Kanye was really gonna go hard then he would have been in the actual video like a true rebel artist (see any indy/punk artist for example) not some CGI bullshit rendering of a “buff” kanye complete with six pack. lol a”true artist” with a message could care less about vanity. This video was completely self serving. I can just see him telling the CGI artist “yo make sure you draw me some abs son” #FOHK #iggottabigegooooo #wedontbelieveyouyouneeedmorepeople
