Justin Timberlake to Perform at VMAs, Receive Video Vanguard Award

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake is set to make VMA history. Not only will the pop superstar perform at this month’s show, he will also be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Prior to the release of The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 on Sept. 30, Timberlake will take the stage live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m.

He will also be presented with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in recognition of his music videos. Past recipients include the King of Pop, Madonna, R.E.M., and the Beastie Boys.

Timberlake has won 14 VMAs throughout his career, coming only second to Madonna in total wins. But he may soon be adding more Moonmen to his collection.

He is tied with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for six nominations at this year’s show.

Other performers for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards include Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Robin Thicke, while Ariana Grande has been announced as a pre-show performer.

@Dave, I agree and I don’t ever recall him being groundbreaking video wise but these award shows are a chump anyway.

@ayee, um yes, it did suck. it was so effortless and lazy. i despise Robin Thicke, but even his video was better than Tunnel Vision (which was just trying to clone Blurred Lines anyway). Mirrors tho, now that was a good video.

If I remember correctly the VMA’s for the past few years has been the most blatantly rascist award show ever. I think it was them last year who had that Indian Host, no black performers, and only a few tiny interviews here and there with rappers, and none of our great black songstresses on the stage.

Timberlake hasn’t done anything decent since he and Ciara did Love, Sex Magic. Jimmy Kimmel turns his show over to him, but when he performs I dont hear anything noteworthy. Hard to believe if he and JayZ really selling anything or using their own funds to buy awards, and CDs.

@diane, last year host was Kevin hart, WTf is the Indian race coming from?. And no black performers? Last year they had Rihanna open, Alicia keys , frank ocean, and lol Wayne perform. Are u stupid?

@Vmas2013, OK maybe that was a differnt show i’m thinking of. do u know the award show i’m thinking of?

Do you believe that all this justin timberlake hype might be about the govt wanting young men to wear suit and ties, and stop sagging? Timberlake hasn’t always dressed like that, but Robin Thicke has.

White corporate America is reaching! trying to shove artists as legends down our throats…I grew up idolising Michael Jackson and no artist comes close to what he was as an artist and person, they are finished destroying him and now insult his legacy with this?

@CBE, Yes exactly, and if you saw the white house’s tribute to motown with hardly any of the great black singers performing, and timberlake and some other whites singing songs that were made by black performers still living and able to sing their own tunes, you’d know what is going on.
