Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Perform on 'GMA' Summer Concert Series
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have come a long way from performing in bars to shutting down Central Park for the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series. The Seattle duo pumped up the crowd with their hits including “Can’t Hold Us,” “White Walls,” and “Thrift Shop.”
They will launch a U.S. arena tour on October 22 in Portland, OR. “The thing that is important about our live performance is keeping the intimacy,” said Macklemore. “What’s important to me is to be able to connect with the fans like it was 20 people.”
The rapper also spoke about not being included on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. “The way that I rationalized it in my head to make myself feel better was the fact that he leads up to it saying, ‘I’m usually homeboys with the people I’m rhyming with.’ Kendrick and I haven’t done a song yet. Boom! I feel better,” he told Philly’s Q102.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who are nominated for six Moonmen, will perform “Same Love” at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn on Aug. 25.
