Kendrick Lamar

Arsenio Hall welcomed “one of the most important hip-hop artists of our time,” Kendrick Lamar, on Tuesday’s show. The talk show host, who interviewed hip-hop icons including Tupac and Dr. Dre in the past, credited the Compton MC for his late-night comeback.

“I said, not only am I coming back, but I can’t wait to say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Kendrick Lamar,'” said Arsenio.

Kendrick sat down to discuss his “Control” verse, the Black Hippy movement, and reacted to praise from Ice Cube and Pharrell, who compared him to Bob Dylan.

“He’s a legend and he said something, he voiced his opinion and the world gravitated towards it, and I want to do that with music,” said K-Dot of the ’60s icon.

He also hit the stage to perform “m.A.A.d city” with the TDE band and brought out Schoolboy Q for “Collard Greens.”
