Video: Drake – ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’

Drake

With his third album Nothing Was the Same in stores today, Drake celebrates by dropping the video for his top 10 single “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” Set in Miami in 1985, the action-packed short film features a gun-toting Drake, with cameos from A$AP Rocky, actor Johnny Simmons, and Majid Jordan.

While at a club with his friends, he gets a call that his girlfriend has been kidnapped. So he puts on a ski mask, grabs his guns, and leads a deadly pursuit. When he discovers that one of his friends is a traitor, Drake doesn’t hesitate to shoot him dead before facing the rest of the bad guys.

Once he finds his girl in a warehouse, he and his crew have a showdown, exchanging rounds of gunfire and setting off explosions. But after all the blood has been shed, is he able to save his lady?

See Drizzy come to the rescue.

wow, nice video here, i knew it would come out today haha, but anyway i like it, looks like something out of a movie. and i kinda expected to see Drake getting married in the video since he said in his interview that we would like to make a song that people could play at weddings, so i thought he would bring that idea to life on screen, but still a good video.

Highlight of the video was ASAP cameo. And Drake when he first appears in his thug gear. And still pouts.

    Amen to the ever-present pout.

Everything Drake does, he does with charm and precision, so the final product always turns out good, but he has this way of incorporating super cheesy things into his content that just seem to kill off a bit of the otherwise great work.

The fact that it’s in the eighties and the predictable storyline make this video a disappointment. I feel like he sells himself short.

I don’t understand how this could come from the same man who writes some of the best rhymes I have heard in a long time.Oh, and homeboy finally found a way to shoot a gun yet not look like he’s trying to be street. You know, making it cinematic and what not.

I guess this just wasn’t my cup of tea.

@Chloé Magnolia, excuse me, but ummm…he’s not the director of the video…he doesn’t write the treatments…

He’s not a helpless sidekick who doesn’t have any say in what goes either. I’m sure Drake approved of the final product and even if he didn’t, I think it is corny and not representative of Drake as an artist.

wtf is this, yh its a great vid but…a rescue video for a song that is about taking a girl home…, the lyrics arent even anywhere near in sync with the video. but all in all im here for the music

    SdotB Reply:

@guy, everything doesn’t have to be literal, most vids aren’t anyway…besides, he’s rescuing his girl, which kind of assures her that she’ll get home (safely)…so it does, in some way, relate to what the song is talking about.
