Pusha T lights a bonfire and toasts to the life in the video for his celebratory single “Sweet Serenade” featuring Chris Brown. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper takes MTV News on set as he shoots scenes on the beach at night.
“‘Sweet Serenade,’ it doesn’t sound really sweet, it’s pretty dark, so to capture that, we came and shot on the beach at nighttime,” he said. “It gives it that eery feel, but still soothing.”
He praised his collaborator. “Chris has an edge to him that’s very real,” said Pusha. “He’s a real person, he goes through real situations and I just respect him a lot. I asked him to be on the record and he was 100 percent down with it.”
Pusha’s debut My Name Is My Name arrives Oct. 8 featuring Kendrick Lamar, Kelly Rowland, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and more. “It’s definitely going to be the hip-hop album of the year,” he declared. “It’s the rap album of all rap albums.”
