Rihanna Performs ‘What Now’ on ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’

Alan Carr and Rihanna

Rihanna helped Alan Carr celebrate his 100th show on Friday’s “Chatty Man.” Wearing a checkered-patterned jacket and leather leggings, the pop diva sat down with the British comedian for an interview filled with laughs.

She asked the bartender for a “Duck Fart,” but when he couldn’t deliver, she settled for a shot of vodka before discussing her mullet hairstyle, River Island clothing line, Barbados’ Crop Over fest, and her reputation for partying.

“I just try to be as honest with myself as possible, be realistic with who I am and what I love to do, what makes me happy, and it’s not always partying,” said RiRi. “As a matter of fact, recently I’ve become like a square, I hate partying. I’ve been so bored of it maybe it’s because it’s the same music every night.”

When asked if she’s been getting any action on the road, she responded, “I am such a bootleg rock star. I do nothing actually. I’m embarrassed to say that. That’s so disgusting. I’m pathetic.”

She also performed her latest Unapologetic single “What Now,” for which she recently shot a video in Thailand.

@Amina, I was about to give her a compliment for her interviewing skills, and say that she interviews much better than beyonce with her southern country dialect and slow wit, but when she just wigged out at the end, I couldn’t.

Who says what they’re really thinking during a televised interview? Very unprofessional.

The song sounds like a song I have heard many times in the past – nothing new and original about the tempo, no creativity, no risk taking with new sounds!

@diane, IN OTHER WORDS – NO SUPERSTAR QUALITY. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THAT STATUS YOU MUST DO

NEW AND ORIGINAL MUSIC – UNIQUE SOUNDS THAT NO ONE HAS EVER PUT TOGETHER BUT YOU

SHOW THAT YOU ARE A TRENDSETTER

SHOW THAT YOU TAKE RISKS WITH YOUR ART – NOT JUST DO BALLADS OR POP MUSIC WITH THAT SAME OLD BEAT WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO FOREVER IN THE POP WORLD

@Jos, LOL you crazy. Rihanna is so desperate to be like Ciara that she even pays people to try and steal her abilities with LIES LOL The Devil is a liar and so r u.

Since you know so much about her, please tell me why every single man in the caribbean drops to their knees to get an american woman to marry them so they can come to the States, BUT

the richest caribbean woman cant even BUY one of them to love her and she prefers to be alone rather than try???Hmmmmm? I’m waiting.

    diane Reply:

@Jos, LOL You’re kidding right? Everyone knows that CIARA is the ONLY woman in entertainment who does all those genres of music WELL!!!

I was so disappointed that rihanna couldn’t even do a reggae song. Good reggae music is something most people love, and she couldn’t even do that right.

@diane, like reggae song : you sa one, no love allowed, rude boy , what my name , Man down , ….. Rihanna is only artist give us reggae / dancehall music even if theses songs are commerciales

    Zelly Reply:

@diane, Ciara in thw same sentence as reggae, dancehall and rock is laughable at best, no shade. Rihanna has done every genre and slayed each time these past 8 years

    Navy 4 Life Reply:

@diane, Seriously? Who says what they’re thinking? You would rather know someone is spouting off complete bullshit and like their answer than hear something real and true but not agree? One of the reasons Robyn is so incredible is because she is raw with her image and she does what she wants Unapologetically.

As far as superstar quality goes she is arguably the busiest person in the entertainment industry. She has been touring for months, she’s designing clothes, releasing fragrances, shooting music videos and a television show, setting fashion trends like spearheading this new camo trend and EVERYONE is getting mullets again. And last time I checked no one else is releasing pop/hip hop music with a Caribbean edge. Robyn has been named one of the WORLDS most influential people over and over and over again. So I don’t know what you consider SUPERSTAR but that’s it.

Lastly, What Now is an amazing song but thanks for stopping by and giving your opinion. Bye

@Navy 4 Life, I heard the NAVY is a street gang whose goal is to harrass and bully and that she is their supreme leader. Not only are you engaging in illegal internet bullying of any and everyone she orders you to do, but you also spread propaganda on the level of the SS for adolph hitler.

Is the main mission of the NAVY, is to help Rihanna corrupt young impressionable girls around the world to follow her examples of strip clubbing and fondling other womens crotches, smoking, alcohol, taking drugs, hyper disgusting sexuality, being irresponsible, nakedness for no reason, twerking their azz cheeks rather than dancing, bullying men until they make men not want to be bothered with her EVER again, and to lead these girls down the paths to destruction????

Inquiring minds want to know. I eagerly await your answer. That is the only thing that I know she does well.

That was a great performance! What I dont understand…..Is why she can’t perform like this all the time?! I gotta give it to her, she held my attention, which is incredibly hard to do! But I need consistency from her ! Don’t give me 2 great performances out 6! If she wants to win me over, Rihanna has to perform like this, at least six straight time! It’s time to grow up! I don’t wanna see yo a$$ clapping during every performance. I need substance! So like I said, if Rihanna starts taking her craft seriously? I could easily start rooting for her! Until then? No ma’am !!! But that was a great start….. but I need more Rihanna! —-Teri

    Navy 4 Life Reply:

@Teri, She is amazing and always gives her all. It’s hard to sing studio quality music when you tour for months on end, singing every day and night, losing sleep, on and off airplanes inhaling recycled air. Even through all that she does the best she can, shes one of THE hardest working people in her industry and if you can’t appreciate that I nor she cares much because there are 50+ million fans who can.

@Navy 4 Life, Beyonce does it. And has been doing it for years. And she has a baby. And she sings and dances at the same time. And her tempo NEVER slows Down. I Love me some Rih. So don’t call it hate.

Ri’s got killer vocals. I know she gets a lot of bad rap with the lyp syncing or poor vocals on some of her club bangers but you have to remember a lot of those songs we love and listen to on the radio are mad chopped and skrewed so the vocals are highly synthesized.

She’s got pipes though, go ‘head girl.

    [Reply]

    Janice Reply:

@jean, she actually never lip syncs. Thats why like the person above you noticed she’s not always consistent. She’s no outstanding vocalist but she can definitely sing and she’s always live so she has a greater chance of giving people hit or miss performances. I respect that about her. Don’t understand why people always try do downplay her success as if she’s not talented.

    [Reply]

    Andy Reply:

@jean, she never lip-syncs she just do playback and sometimes she doesn’t sing along.

    [Reply]

    karamelkisses Reply:

@Andy, she NEVER lip-syncs? boy, bye! Have you not read the reviews of her overseas concerts lately? Apparently, that is ALL she’s doing is lip-syncing AND showing up 60-80 minutes late to her shows, for her fans that pay their hard earned money to see her “live”. Maybe if she stayed off of social media taking shots at people, she could hone her craft. #nolies

All those albums sold and her voice is still a flat hott mess! Instead of spending time on twitter being a cyber bully this industry pass around needs to be working with vocal coaches daily and perfecting her craft, Being a style icon, fake bad girl and a gimmick is only going to take her so far…

Someone has obviously been working with her voice control. She needs keep working with them, because whatever they’re doing? It working IMO!!! I cant compare her vocals to my fave (Beyonce) because of course, her voice is better than everybody!

She sings live with playback, the dance songs have been played around with big time, so as every other artists it is impossible to sound exactly as your single does in live shows, also I’d rather see someone dancing and enjoying they’re music than standing there like a bean pole constantly. Also if you had any idea ‘pour it up’ is a single and video is out next week. At least when she does her ballad she reminds everyone she actually does have a talent, not like a lot of others in the industry at the moment.

    [Reply]

    Ray Reply:

@Eleri, it’s not playback that’s her backup singers

This performance was everything. Her ballads have always been flawless. Her voice is very unique and that’s why she is very successful. She could sing a hook on your song and completely take it over. She’s not Whitney but I don’t understand why people in the black community constantly act like that’s the only kind of voice than should be successful.
