Pusha T Talks Kendrick Lamar, Kanye’s Rant, & Kanye vs. Kimmel

Unlike some of his peers, Pusha T was not offended when he heard his name called out on Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse. Instead of firing back, the G.O.O.D. Music MC applauded Kendrick and even joined forces with him on “Nosetalgia.”

“Kendrick is an artist who I would classify as the new generation,” said Pusha of the Compton MC. “He’s like the voice of the new generation, I believe.”

During his listening party in New York, Kanye West got on the mic to deliver his now famous “Everything Is Pusha T” rant, which even caught Pusha off guard.

“I didn’t know where that was gonna go, but I was just hoping that everybody taped it and they did,” he told Rap-Up TV. “He went on one of his rants. We speak candidly about our perception of the culture and where it is and what we’ve started, what we’ve been innovators of, and what trends we’ve set. I didn’t know he was ready to share that with everybody else.”

When Kanye called out Jimmy Kimmel for spoofing his BBC interview, it was just Kanye being Kanye, said Pusha, who jumped to his defense.

“People just really need to understand that he’s really no nonsense,” explained Pusha. “He’s very passionate about everything he’s telling to the people. Nine times out of 10, he’s enlightening you or showing you the way. I feel like when someone makes light of it, he may take it to heart. I’m Team Kanye. I don’t really care about the other guy.”

Fan of kanye’s music, but I’m team kimmel on this one. Kanye needs to relax, it was just a joke.

@Cindy, you OBVIOUSLY didn’t watch kanye’s interview, where he pointed out that media would take this honest interview and spin it, so NO he does NOT need to relax. what kimmel did was uncalled for and plain RUDE.

@troof, well if he needs to stoop that low to create new material, MAYBE HE SHOULD FIND ANOTHER PROFESSION.

@anon,he didnt spin anything all he did was take kanye’s SAME EXACT WORDS and made kids read it. TO SHOW HOW IMMATURE HE IS.

@QUEEN MINAJ, I would have to agree with annon on this one, Kanye is right. Although it was just a spoof, Kanye doesn’t usually do interviews and this was a very big interview. He to him wore his heart out on a sleeve and was honest. When you give such an interview and you find yourself being mocked by a child, it can be seen as quite offensive in a lot of ways. What’s worse is that Kimmel could of just said sorry but he just proved how immature he is and he’s keeping it going.

@annon, I did see the interview and still think kanye should relax. By ranting like that he only proves the point that kimmel was trying to make, that Ye can act like a child.

I’d expect no more from an MC signed to GOOD MUSIC. Kanye is nothing but an embarrassment to the black men. If you didn’t want to be spoofed, you shouldn’t have entered the music industry. All celebrities are fair game to comedians and Kanye is no one special. He’s not immune.

@annon and @ant are right and stop saying kanye is immature and can’t take a joke. go back and look at his snl appearances, he joined in on sketches making fun of him multiple times. I just think that interview was big for him and he probably took it the wrong way to have kümmel who he probably thought he was cool with to have children mock him
