Mary J. Blige Sings National Anthem at World Series

Mary J. Blige

Before the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox kicked off Game 1 of the World Series, Mary J. Blige took the field to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Boston’s Fenway Park. Emotions ran high as the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul delivered a stirring rendition of the patriotic tune as jets flew overhead.

She also performed the national anthem before Game 6 of the 2009 World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Her holiday album, A Mary Christmas, made its debut on the Billboard 200 this week.

Did MJB knock it out of the park? Watch her performance below.

Did anyone notice that MJB changed one word in her version of the song. Ramparts became rampart and curiously the verb was re-conjugated from were to was. Odd.
