TLC revisited their 20-year legacy with the VH1 movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story and album 20. Now the best-selling female group is looking toward the future with the release of an all-new album.
One of the songs they recorded for the 2014 release is “Posh Life,” co-written by Dallas Austin and Lady Gaga. During an interview with Rap-Up TV, T-Boz and Chilli spoke about collaborating with the pop superstar.
“She actually wrote that with Dallas for her album,” said Chilli. “She told him that she wanted a song that was formatted just like TLC.”
But she decided not to use the song on ARTPOP. “She said it was too TLC. She didn’t want to offend us ’cause she was such a fan,” added T-Boz.
So under the guidance of Austin, TLC went to the studio and recorded the track before playing it for Gaga herself. “She was so excited,” said T-Boz. “She wants to be involved, but we’re trying to see if we can work that out, record company to record company.”
While in the studio, T-Boz also had a chance to hear some of Gaga’s ARTPOP. “Bananas!” she said. “She has this song with T.I. [‘Jewels N’ Drugs’] that’s so bomb. I was like floored, I loved it. She’s coming with some stuff, that’s all I’m sayin’.”
