Fresh off his “SNL” appearance, Eminem was back on stage at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards on Sunday. With some help from Mr. Porter, the Detroit rapper performed his MMLP2 cut “Rap God” against a stark black-and-white set. The Syndrome-directed performance was shot live at New York City’s Pier 36 and broadcast around the world.

He was also named Artist of the Year, beating out fan favorites including Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and One Direction.

On Tuesday, Eminem will release his eighth album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 featuring Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Skylar Grey, and Nate Ruess.

What makes u artist of the year, are the people who voted. Don’t be mad just because JB or 1D didn’t win! HAHA! The best always win at the end!:)

His performance just takes ur breath away. The confidence of the lyrics he spits. Plus most of it didnt even rhyme, which was crazy. He had the crowd amped and thats what a great performer is. Best rapper of the year in the eyes of the public. I dont know, wait…it was the public vote that got him top honors so yea. Best rapper of the year.
