New Music: Dawn Richard – ‘Fade’

Dawn Richard

While Danity Kane plots their comeback, Dawn Richard digs in the crates and unearths a previously unreleased solo song. On the ethereal “Fade,” produced by Noisecastle III, the New Orleans singer coos about a love that slipped away.

“Really love the production on this record. Make sure you grab some headphones hearts and blast it. It’s a sonic yummy movie,” tweeted Dawn.

After reuniting over the summer, Dawn, Aubrey, Shannon, and Aundrea are currently working on their first album in five years. The first single “Rage” was produced by the Stereotypes.

Start your week off with some new music from Dawn.

Not gonna lie, I wish she would’ve pushed “BLACKheart” instead of rushing ahead with the Danity Kane reunion. I was looking forward to HER new project. She is just so ahead of the game.

@Kyle, I agree. I’m still waiting on BlackHeart. I think the DK Reunion is a business move. I’m sure she loves the girls and they’re all happy to be back together but I also think the reunion will be good for sales on her solo projects. It’ll be combining all of the girls’ fan bases. Personally, I think Dawn should continue to do solo work. She’s amazing!

@Mario, So you want to listen to music about a black evil heart, rage, and monsters? who wants that kind of music, and who makes that kind of music, except sick satan worshippers??? if i had my way that satan promoting wouldn’t be played outside of haiti. she needs to go back there and stay there, and stop contaminating american society.

@brenda, do you listen to her music? songs such as faith, Goliath, scripture, heaven? whoever you think dawn richard is she’s not and she’ll tell you herself she’s one of the only artists I know who will address that topic head one and proclaim her love for God. In the future know what you’re talking about before jumping to conclusions

@DeAndre’, one of the haitians primary voundon gods has a dual personality, but his primary mission is evil. that is part of their culture.they pray to Jesus first and when he doesnt answer fast enough, they go to satan. that is NOT what a true Christian does. A true Christian waits on the Lord to answer, no matter how long it takes.

@brenda, are you sipping on something? Are you out of your meds? Yes she’s half haitian but what does that have to do with anything? I doubt that all haitians are devil worshippers

@brenda, girl you’re so lost and irrelevant. Lyrically she deals with themes of fighting darkness and love prevailing. You. tried. It.

@Kyle, no Danity Kane will help Dawn become more known when she goes solo again…they broke up too early…they were making main stream hits and #1 albums so how is your comments relevant?

Records like this are the reason why I love dawn, it’s nobody in the game making music like her. I honestly think her doing the dk reunion before blackheart is a very smart move, if their album is a success the buzz for blackheart could be huge and could even lead to her signing to a label.

    Nick Reply:

    @Elgin,

Does she want to sign to a label? She’s doing really well for herself all on her own. I have a feeling that she doesn’t want a label telling her what to do – I’d be afraid of her signing a label that wants to shape her the way they see fit.

In any case, she’s a wonderful artist and I wish her much success. Go Dawn!

@brenda, you have some nerve.. I’ve heard some comments about Dawn before but this is way out of pocket.. you have to be the most disrespectful, ignorant, and simple minded person on the plant.. Dawn’s music is in no way, shape, or form satanic nor is she a satan worshipper.. and to say that she needs to go back to Haiti and stop contaminating American society is so out of line.. you must not really know Dawn or her music.. take a listen before you just open your ignorant mouth..

@lovely, The name of the record – BLACKHEART, says everything. I will never allow evil influences in my home.

The meaning of a black heart is someone who is cold and dead feeling. Referring to a black hearted person means they have no feelings and no regards for others

@brenda, I rarely do this but….. girl, shut the fuck up. LMFAO. What you’re saying is so left field, dramatic and INCORRECT, that I’m literally cracking up right now.

Her albums are a story told throught a trilogy. Goldenheart, Blackheart, then RedemptionHeart. The beginning, the fall and then the rise – of life, PERIOD.

Just bc something is black or dark, doesn’t automatically correlate with the devil & evil. Everybody deals with dark times in life, and music can be an honest reflection of that. So sit your raggedy ass down with the foolery. You’re doing a lot. Lol.
