Eminem’s Childhood Home Burns in Fire

The Marshall Mathers LP 2

While Eminem was blazing up the charts with his new album, his childhood home was going up in flames. The house that is pictured on the cover of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was badly burned in a fire on Thursday.

According to TMZ, the 767-square-foot, two-story bungalow, which is located on Dresden St. near 8 Mile in Detroit, sustained damage to the second floor. Firefighters were able to put out the blaze before it spread to the rest of the house.

The fire began around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. It’s unclear how it was started.

Public records show the home was bought by Em’s mother, Deborah Mathers, in 1987 for $19,900. It was eventually abandoned and is currently for sale by the bank after failing to sell for $500 at a recent auction.

The boarded-up bungalow was also featured on the cover of Em’s 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP.

Good, now maybe someone should throw every copy of that wack ass MMLP 2 in it. Dude hasn’t put out good music since MM Show, still his feeble minded white fans will buy up all his crap.

    @flawda,

Seriously? Lol. Eminem is spitting some of the dopest rhymes EVER on his new album, and it’s SICK.

I respect your option, however. Haven’t heard of many people who didn’t like it, but I’m sure, like all albums, it’s not for everyone.

All this talk about Em falling off is ludicrous. What he is doing is different that his earlier stuff, but that’s all. Thinking older or newer is better is all just a matter of perception

LOL at me being a Em hater, i was a fan up until MM Show. Everything after that has been disposable imo.

Dude is a borderline wack producer and i don’t know why he insist on not using Dre or any of the dope producers he is around (Hi Tek, Quik, Battlecat, Denaun Porter, etc).

I understand why ya’ll cheer for Em so hard though, he makes ya’ll “white fans” feel like ya’ll belong. Funny shit is, Royce is probably doper than Em but ya’ll don’t support Royce like that. I wonder why? lol

@flawda, MM show? You mean The Eminem show lol And you’re an Em fan? Plus MMLP2 is his best since TES. Only cons about that album was the hooks & those poppy beats

@flawda, your comment makes you look ignorant. You might not like it, but that’s just your opinion. To imply that Em gets only cheered on because he’s white is stupid. Yes, Em has a lot of white fans, but also a lot of black fans (myself included). That’s why he’s so successful. He has fans of all colours and ages. I think Royce is crazy. His flow is so smooth and he’s lyrically on point, but he ain’t seeing Em. Shady is more technically inclined then him.

album is dope. Ppl are free to their opinions but if you honestly felt the intricate rhymes he spit throughout the MMLP2 were “wack” you probably like wack rappers. Also @nicki minaj. Em murdered you on your own shit. Away with you.

@tony, Lyrically, great album. Production, hooks and originality not so much. I love that he pushed the limits with the spit game but I still can’t give the album a dope rating

Eminem has never made a album of the level of Illmatic or Reasonable Doubt. Jay-z nor Nas has ever made a album as terrible as Encore. Think about that!

@flawda, Eminem is a better lyricist than jayz. Nas has had some pretty wack albums over the years. And you act like every black rapper is better than any white rapper yet you failed to mention Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz.

@flawda Jay z made blueprint 3. Magna carter holy grail. Blueprint 2…wtf…nas made nastradamus, plus streets disciple, I am,were good but considered weak as well. You sound biased. No album is Illmatic. Get over it. Reasonable doubt copied Illmatic formula and ill take mmlp over rd which has nice beats but no song on there is as good as stan

@flawda Funny how d first thing you had to do was claim u were a fan of Em.U said let Em use Dre beats.lol.U do realize that if u bought his original albums and u saw who produced,Dre did very little on that.Plus u brought up d race issue u bastard.I am blacker than your generation would ever be and i can confidently state here that i bought 3 copies of MMLP2.Album was dope and its a fact that anyone who contests that is either a black American or just hating.Best they can say is oh this does not relate to me but i wonder how it wont.Bad Guy about Karma relates to all.U do something it may hunt u.Legacy all about oh someone never thought u would make it and d songs go on and on.Headlights teaching u to forgive.I am a black guy in UK but we dont hate like u racist blacks in America.U guys even hate your own.If its Drake oh its d ladies buying the albums. If its wayne oh he is buying d album himself.U said Em never topped Illmatic lol. Were u ever an Em fan? Seriously MMLP1 did not top that? U really listened to Eminem Show start to finish? Just shut up.i understand what freedom of speech means but please use common sense when talking.

@Eric, Well said the MMLP 2 based on its beats and hooks was ehh but lyrically slayed any album in the past 5-8 years. There were good songs on there like Bad Guy as you said, headlights, stronger than l was, brainless (on some relapse shit lol), rap god (flow wise), legacy, evil twin and even the monster was good to me. And let’s not even talk about the deluxe because he killed it!

@rocky respect. I would say the album is pretty creative based on the flows/storylines alone. Bad guy alone is a very creative song. The production could have been better in parts but was alright overall. I feel like lyrics should go into the creative realm as well. Almost every flow/tone/syllabic structure you could ever think of was in yhere along with double entendres simalies metephors ect. 8/10 album.

See I’m an Eminem fan been on since day one I’ve been criticizing his recent work and how most people say he feel off but truly come to think about it, this guy’s all grown up at forty one years he doesn’t brag about his wealth or hoes but yet people call him trashy saying he sold out? Just because he doesn’t talk about hate anymore or hold grudges? First you need to understand Eminem is different from Slim Shady his ego and only a fan or someone who really listens to him would truly understand. He’s always been an artist who relates his music to what’s going on in his life at his present moment you can expect him to go back and start talking about the shit he used to say when he was 25 do you? The MMLP2 is basically him showing his grown mature side and how he is still lyrically uncontested so do yourself a favor and buy that shit or get the fuck off his business
