New Music: Solange – ‘Cash In’

Solange released her first compilation Saint Heron this week featuring her favorite R&B artists including Jhené Aiko, Cassie, and Sampha. The album also features Solo herself, who contributes the closing number “Cash In,” which she wrote and co-produced with Tim Anderson.

“Take your money to the bank/ Tell ‘em we gon’ throw it all away,” she sings over the cowbell-laden beat.

Set off your Saturday with the sweet sounds of Solange.

I LOVE Solange!!! I LOVE this song “Cash In”, I LOVE The Message of the song, and the whole “Saint Heron” album compilation!!! Solange voice is so beautiful unlike any artist out now… I just enjoy any and everything that she puts out.

I absolutely love this song & the album. She did a great job and this was the icing on the cake.

Props to her for reppin’ dat R&B/soul and developing new artists in its sound…unlike her sellout of a big sister who went pop a LONG time ago, Solo is ACTUALLY HELPING new artists.

@Shutterbug, please leave Beyoncé out of it ok, she is a legend don’t be disrespectful, I’m sure Solange won’t even appreciate your comment.

@Shutterbug, went POP? What bullshit to imply that blacks have no right to pop when we were among the forefathers to pop music! The Fifth Beatle was black! What a slap in the face to the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love etc!

You have the right to step outside of your genre if your heart wants to! Because to keep it 1 HUNNID blacks helped shape the whole gotdamn musical spectrum. Miss me with that deluded bullish!t you on!!

@T, not to mention Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Frankie Lymon!

I hate hearing ignorant shit like “Blacks sellout when they go pop” bs. Save the spiel Pop is more than Britney/N*SYNC it is and HAS been a RESPECTED genre of music. Don’t let that watered down EDM dance genre that’s been flooding the radio for years fool you. It’s MANY sides to pop.

@T, R&B is dying…I’m just givin’ props to Solo for reviving it.

Why do we NOT appreciate our R&B/sou/blues forefathers…you cried when MJ and Whitney died…I bet none of you will when BB King, Diana Ross or Fats Domino do. (SMDH)

I see she decorates herself to look less attractive.. and that’s what one of the worst human kind would do. Be back attractive or just go away
