Jay Z and Beyoncé Go Vegan

Jay Z and Beyoncé

Jay Z and Beyoncé have done it all, and now the couple is taking on a new challenge. The Carters have decided to go vegan.

The Roc Nation mogul, who is currently on his “Magna Carter World Tour,” shared his “22 Days Challenge” on his Life+Times website. As part of the challenge, he will only eat plant-based foods for the duration of 22 days. Beyoncé has also stepped up to the challenge and will join her husband.

The challenge starts today on the eve of his 44th birthday and ends on Christmas Day. He will be providing updates as he goes on.

He’s unsure what will happen after the 22 days. He may resume eating meat, go semi-vegan, or adopt a full plant-based diet.

The couple was already spotted at vegan restaurant Real Food Daily in West Hollywood on Tuesday before Beyoncé’s “Mrs. Carter Show” at Staples Center.

Read what Jay had to say about his new diet.

Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you’ve found the way.

On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!! This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a “plant-based breakfast” everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought…

Why now? There’s something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day…It just feels right!

So you can call it a spiritual and physical cleanse. I will post my progress… Any professional vegans out there that have any great food spots please help out! Please ha. I don’t know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We’ll see…

Best of luck and health!

P.S. B is also joining me.

I think it’s interesting that they’re going straight from being carnivores to hard core vegans. That’s hard shit, even if just for 22 days, when you consider all of the things vegans can’t eat that we don’t think about (eggs, gelatin, honey, white sugar, etc.). Good luck to them both for trying it. I’d like to see how it goes.

I’m vegan and the food is better. My health and energy is better. I wouldn’t change it for the world. People who can’t change are weak. They were trained to eat dead animals and they think that’s food. PS there is feces in dairy products and blood. Enjoy.

They already eat at vegan restaurants. This won’t be hard. The food there is amazing.

Just did a 30 Day Vegan workshop- such a great experience. On the flip side, I am sticking with a 80% to 90% plant based plan. The food is so good – lot of plant based Indian recipes. It helped me feel more connected to the food I ate and the earth the provided. It is very spiritual and very energizing. May this be a blessing for both of you. If you need some delicious recipes, let me know. It is a time of richness, not deprivation.

Being vegan is a philosophy not a diet. Of course, there is lot of health benefit from it. If you go vegan because you look at it as a diet. You’ll fail.
