Make It Home

Following the release of his breakout EP Downtown: Life Under the Gun, August Alsina is gearing up for the April 15 release of his full-length debut Testimony.

The New Orleans crooner connects with fellow Def Jam artist Jeezy on the album’s first single “Make It Home,” co-written by The Exclusives and produced by The Featherstones. On the powerful and personal song, August chronicles his tale of struggle, hustle, and survival.

“As an artist, I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people,” said August. “How much I want my personal business to be judged. I think the EP struck good a balance of who I am and what I’ve been through, but that was just the beginning. Nothing is held back on Testimony. When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”

The album’s release date coincides with the birthday of his older brother, Melvin LaBranch III, who inspired August to pursue music. Melvin was tragically gunned down in New Orleans in 2010.

Listen to August hustle his way to a better life on the gritty anthem.
