Ciara Opens Up About Baby, New Album, & Beyoncé

Ciara

A baby is not the only thing Ciara plans to deliver this year. In addition to motherhood, the “Body Party” singer is working on her next album. Fresh off announcing her pregnancy on “The View,” she spoke to The Huffington Post about becoming a mom and the baby’s gender.

While she didn’t say whether she was having a boy or a girl, she did say that her fiancé Future “got what he wanted.”

According to TMZ, Ciara is about seven months pregnant. She and Future plan to wed sometime this year.

She also revealed that she started recording the follow-up to her 2013 album around Thanksgiving and plans to release “something really soon.”

When asked about Beyoncé, Ciara had nothing but kind words. “I respect any woman that works hard and gets success from the hard work that they put into it,” said CiCi, who will perform at the official Grammy after-party.

Check out highlights from the interview below.

On her pregnancy: “It really is a blessing. It really is the most exciting time in my life. I do have a [gender] preference, but I don’t want to say that either. I did have a preference before I found out what it was. I had a preference at first and when I was told what it was I felt like it’s gonna be what it’s supposed to be. It was definitely different [than what I thought]. My fiancé got what he wanted. I’m excited.”

On her new album: “I’ve been recording on my album. I actually started around Thanksgiving of last year and I’m in the most comfortable creative space I could possibly be in. I actually will be giving my fans something really soon. I’m really excited about it because it’s so beautiful and really sweet.”

On Beyoncé: “I have a lot of respect for her. I respect any woman that works hard and gets success from the hard work that they put into it. For someone like her, she’s been around for almost 20 years, if I’m not mistaken, or at least a good 15. I’m going on 10 and so when I look at women like her, if anything, you can only get inspired when you see other women like yourself striving to achieve their goals. It’s great because it shows you exactly what you believe. I respect Beyoncé. I respect any woman that’s having success in this because it’s a really hard world to stand strong in, to keep on going and keep reinventing. We all do our own thing and I think that’s the great thing about it. What she and I do is completely different and I feel like there’s no comparison in reference to who we are as artists, which is really cool. There’s a world for all of us to be successful.”

But please, just put out a video for OVERDOSE.
You hear us but you don’t respond.

@Malika, I’ll never understand how she missed the mark on such a tune. Overdose had so much potential. I swear it’s like she just forgot about the album. There were no performances, no promo, no cares given on her behalf. If she wants to win again, she needs to put in the effort. Tweeting about it doesn’t do much of anything.

@Malika, Queen. Spoken like true royalty. I’m so sick of small minded people in entertainment who feel the need to put down their peers to be successful.

Thank you, Beautiful Queen, mother to be of

I hope the Queen does that for Michael because he was going to take her on tour with him and Blow her up even bigger than she is today.

Fairly lame questions. Ciara is so slept on.

@Croqque, I wish I knew why the greatest performers of the day, are slept on. The greatest performers today that are being slept on are:

    Ciara
    Lady Gaga
    Pink

@grace, how very small minded of you because they are alot of performers out that are in leagues above and beyond those you mentioned. ciara is an amazing dancer and NO ONE can touch her in that area however her vocal ability leaves alot to be desired. Gaga released shitty music this error and Pink, since becoming a mother, has mainly focused on that and reconciling w/ her husband out of the public eye which is to be commended.

@karamelkisses, Actually, in 2013 alone, Pink not only was featured in movies, received Grammy nominations, counted on Billboard as the 6th top ranking artist of 2013, but also had one of the highest (even higher than Beyonce)grossing tours that year. She was not focused on reconciling with her husband THAT much. Which proves that Pink is an artist being slept on. You guys can keep the other two.

You could see the fakeness in her face and with what she was saying. She was also being shady. I heard she really is a total b*tch when she was on top of her game that’s why she’s “humble” now because she started flopping and everyone stopped caring about her. Lloyd spilt her tea years ago.

    Antonio Reply:

@NICKI MINAJ, Isn’t being fake the reason why Beyoncé didn’t actually touch you at the VMAs or has yet to record a song with you…

    [Reply]

    NICKI MINAJ Reply:

@Antonio, Stop sucking my d*ck because, Beyonce in fact touched Nicki Minaj at the VMA’s. That’s not the only picture they have with each other and that’s not the only event they’ve met at. Word on the street is Beyonce is a feature on Nicki’s 3rd album, set for release this year.

@Antonio, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj have many pictures together on the web. Word on the street is Beyonce is a feature on Nic’s 3rd album.

@NICKI MINAJ, lmao WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE YOU HERE FROM? WHO? and even if she was a b*tch (which I doubt considering all her old interviews and footage) she was 17-21. What 17-21 yr old in america wasn’t feeling themselves? Geesh

    [Reply]

    What Tea? Reply:

@NICKI MINAJ, it doesn’t matter because when she was at her top game, she was like 16 or 17 she isn’t a kid anymore she’s a grown ass woman(28) now. Its time to look ahead of time not in the teenage past.

i don’t get how Ciara can say her and Beyonce are in two different categories of music. Cause last i checked they are never not in the same category for Best Female RnB Artist.

    [Reply]

    Antonio Reply:

@Asia, Beyoncé and Ciara both have their musical roots in R&B but Beyoncé’s is a more Urban/Soul laced R&B with some Pop/Electro elements while Ciara’s combines more Pop and Hip-Hop

I’m happy for her and I am glad she is recording new material. I would be lying if I said I didn’t agree with some of the comments regarding how she promoted her last album. It started off on the right foot but the week after it dropped, she was DONE pushing it. It had a lot of potential hits on it too.
