Jhené Aiko Performs ‘The Worst’ on ‘Fallon’

Jhené Aiko

Jhené Aiko sailed into the weekend with a performance on Friday’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” Accompanied by The Roots, the L.A. songstress performed her emotional single “The Worst” off her EP Sail Out.

During the taping earlier in the week, Drake showed up to support his tourmate. “Congrats on an amazing performance,” he told Jhené.

She plans to release her full-length debut Souled Out in May. According to VIBE, it will feature her daughter Namiko Love, who appears on a song called “Promises.”

Tune in to “SNL” tonight to see Jhené join Drake on stage.

@mini, you’re absolutely right! Ashanti was so annoying when she first came out and so is this Jhene girl. Her voice is the pit s and her music is a snooze fest.

@Trillafood, You just sound like an annoying hater. You’re the pits and you’re a snooze fest.

@Hater, not at hater at all, but I know bullshit music when I hear it and Jhene is bullshit and overhyped. She’s not bringing anything new to the game.

@Trillafood, You say you’re not a hater, but you ARE a critic with NO credentials…#keepyournegativeopinionstoyourself

@Eli, She reminds me of Ashanti because of the way she sings and her style of writing…Ashanti always could sing..it just took her a while to figure out how to use her voice…if you listen to some of ashanti old stuff live you could hear that she had something … it would go in and out..but now shes good

@Eli, and what are your credentials? I like homegirl, but she is a little over hyped. But I’m glad that she’s even hyped at all because there are plenty similar to her that are slept on. When weighing the alternatives: Jhene vs A-alike pop “songstress,” Jhene wins by miles.

Yes yes & yes!!!!!! I am all the here for this! Granted, she isn’t a powerhouse but her musicality is superb & she writes all of her material! So happy for her been a fan for a minute now ..it’s refreshing to see the rest of the world catch on

Her vocals are really weak. She and Ciara are the weakest vocalists in the R&B industry. They have nothing vocally on the likes of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Monica, Ledishi, Elle Varner, Keri Hilson etc.

@Naah, vocals arent all about strength.

@Naah, so…. Jhene is more appealing to the ear than all of those artist you named aside from Brandy, Monica, and Bey! and Not one of them can deliever a sensual song like Ciara can! they all have their strengths and weaknesses!

I love Jhene Aiko! She has a very authentic and organic way of performing, which just feels good to listen to and watch. Regarding her voice, I also agree, she may not be walking around with 5-octaves to play with; but, what she lacks in vocal prowess, she makes up for in artistic integrity. Jhene has been in the game longer than a lot of people know, and was first released as a pop/r&b singer where she was singing your typical songs; however, she discovered her true artistry, and the world is luckier for it. So if she wanted to sound like your most favorite artist, I am sure she can replicate that, but she is not a manufactured artist – this is really her, which I love! #teamjheneaiko

Wahahahhahahahahab ciara sings better than kelly rowland? Omggg i swear that’s the most stupid thing I have ever heard. It is like saying britney is a better Vocalist than whitney. Kelly is vocally one of the strongest in the game.

Her voice doesn’t sound that great here, could be nerves since this is her debut television performance or she may have had a sore throat etc. If any of you have actually seen her live (I’ve been lucky enough to see her twice) you would know how great her voice actually is
