Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Talk ‘Emotional’ Grammy Performance on ‘Ellen’

Ryan Lewis, Macklemore, and Ellen

Fresh off their four wins at the Grammys, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis returned to where it started. The hip-hop duo, who made their first appearance on “Ellen” in 2012, spoke about their headline-making Grammy performance, where 33 couples including Ryan Lewis’ sister were married onstage while they performed “Same Love.”

“I got emotional during rehearsal and I got emotional during the performance,” admitted Macklemore.

Queen Latifah officiated the ceremony, while Madonna performed “Open Your Heart.” “She was so gracious to come and share the stage, and killed it,” he said of the pop queen, adding, “Still don’t have her cell phone number.”

Ellen also delved into their personal relationships. Macklemore is engaged to his longtime girlfriend and tour manager, Tricia Davis, who’s been with him from the start.

His fiancée got emotional when the group won for Best New Artist. “She broke down into tears and I was like, ‘We’re definitely being watched by like 30 million people right now,’” he said.

Next up, the Seattle duo will attend Sunday’s Super Bowl, where they will be rooting for the Seahawks. In honor of their Grammy wins, Ellen presented them with their own hilarious jerseys.

I’m already over this dude. That Instagram post of the text he sent to Kendrick really turned me off.

@Twista, Him being 100% real and admitting he didn’t have the best album turned you off from him? Odd, that made me respect him more.

@JHP, why tho?? He should just do that in private. Showing the picture was like an attention whore move.

@Andy, If he’d kept it private, the Kendrick stans would still be tearing him limb from limb so it’s really of no consequence. Both are grossly overrated.

@Ahead, You’re hilarious! They didn’t deserve SHIT. They look like beavis and butthead. They robbed the people who actually have real talent of getting awards; it should have been between just Jay, Drake, Kendrick and Kanye. Those two have NO talent, and we know why they won, by propaganda. Just like how Miguel deserved to win last year, the Grammys clearly doesn’t care about talent anymore, just by forcing irrelevant that don’t have to do w/ being talented or a great artist down peoples throats and are racist as fuck. Look at Katy Perry, Juicy J, and Taylor Swift, they looked like damn fools too, among others. The Grammys is full of crap and black artists are always the ones getting ignored unless it’s to depict us in a negative crazy way, subliminally.
