Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk in Love’ Rockets to No. 2 on Hot 100

Beyoncé

‘Yonce is all over the charts like liquor. The singer’s Jay Z-assisted single “Drunk in Love” rises to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

Following her opening performance at the Grammys, the song off her self-titled album jumps 13-2, due to an increase in streams and digital sales (via Billboard). She also earns her seventh No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

“Drunk in Love” gives Bey her 15th top 10 and first since Lady Gaga’s “Telephone,” which reached No. 3 in April 2010. It’s also her highest-charting song since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” spent four weeks at No. 1 in December 2008.

The 32-year-old ties Connie Francis and Olivia Newton-John for seventh place among women with the most top 10s in the Hot 100′s 55-year history, surpassing P!nk, Donna Summer, and Taylor Swift.

Jay Z also extends his reign for the most Hot 100 top 10s among rappers with 21, 12 of those in a lead role.

“Drunk” is the couple’s fourth shared Hot 100 top 10 following “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” “Crazy in Love,” and “Déjà Vu.”

Elsewhere on the chart, Katy Perry remains No. 1 with her Juicy J-assisted single “Dark Horse,” while Pitbull and Ke$ha’s “Timber” falls 2-3 and Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty” featuring 2 Chainz jumps 6-4.

Producer of the Year Pharrell bounds 11-8 with his Oscar-nominated single “Happy,” which becomes his seventh Hot 100 top 10 and second as a lead artist following 2003′s “Frontin’.”

Hmmmm :-/ something just doesn’t seem authentic here. Not being a hater or anything it just seems suspect.

    [Reply]

    BEYHIVE Reply:

@Raven-Symone, It’s not suspect honey. The single rose all the way to top 5 on itunes after the grammy’s and is still in the top 15!

    STAY PRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOL

    Raven-Symone Reply:

@BEYHIVE, lol trust me I’m not pressed I have the album and listen to it all the time. I’m glad it’s performing well but something just seems sketchy that’s all. I could very well be wrong but I doubt it.

@Raven-Symone, i’m confused as to what the big deal is … last week the song was #5. after the grammy’s and superbowl weekend, now it’s #2 … so? oh, it’s because it’s beyonce. no-one has anything to say about the fact that katy perry’s “dark horse” was originally charted at #33 and is now #1. i can’t w/ the foolishness!

    [Reply]

    NICKI MINAJ Reply:

@Raven-Symone, It’s not suspect the song went to #5 on itunes. It got millions of streams on Spotify and millions of video streams on YouTube and radio spins increased. All those factors are key to Billboard positions.

Something is just so fishy about this new chart position… there are other tracks that have been doing better with downloads yet aren’t event in the top 5.

this new system billboard is using is utter bullshyt!

    karamelkisses Reply:

@Jay Scorpio Navy General, i don’t agree w/ you on much including DIL being #2 but the new billboard system is a clusterf*ck! example when jay z released MCHG, ALL other outlets counted the Samsung downloads but billboard didn’t. Fastforward months later, Gaga does the same deal but w/ a website and they counted those sales which still didn’t matter because it was a mess of an album. also the way they are now counting collabs is ridiculous. example rihanna receiving #1 credits for songs that are not hers (monster, run this town, lights, live your life) she assisted but those #1 claims once upon a time belong exclusively to the artist NOT the feature as well. #butitiswhatitis

let me tell you…I did see this shit happening at all. Wow, I didnt think we would see another top 10 from Bey in our lifetime. I totally underestimated the power of the queen. Happy for her non the less, I got it goes #1 she deserves it

    [Reply]

    Lavin Reply:

@meme, it’s total bullshit. She paid for this single to go # 2 to make up for that embarrassing grammy performance. I watch the billboard all the time and last I checked this song was at # 10. Now #2? Nah beyonce is up to her old tricks. The bitch can’t stand to not be in the spot light. Narcissistic much?

    [Reply]

    Brooklyn Reply:

@Lavin, LOL! “After a week at No. 2, the track returns to No. 1 on Streaming Songs (9.4 million, up 74%) for a second frame on top. It vaults 8-2 on On-Demand Songs (2.3 million, up 42%) and enters the Digital Songs top 10 (18-7; 151,000, up 94%). It continues scaling Radio Songs, where it lifts 16-14 (68 million, up 15%).” Here are the reasons why the song is #2!

    [Reply]

    anonymous Reply:

@Lavin, why pay for #2 position? LOL I mean this B*tch has enough money to put Heaven, Blue,Superpower,No Angel and the 10 others tracks in the Top 15 HOT 100.
She has gained a lot of Streaming which has legitly a bigger role today on the HOT 100. Deal with it. people stream a song because they’re interesting in but AIRPLAY are biased since lables pay radio and not everyone buying music nowadays (spotify, deezer, youtube)so streaming is the best mean to measure Popularity.

    karamelkisses Reply:

@meme, girl go suck a fat dick! never see a top ten from beyonce? only you and your delusional navy members. if/when she releases pretty hurts, that’s a POP smash and it’s reminiscent of hits like irreplacable and single ladies. i love the fact that she has decided NOT to make radio a priority and just make music to reflect the space she’s in. she’s still doing the damn thing & breaking records all at the same time. fact is, NO-ONE but kids are listening to radio right now because all you hear is miley or beiber. that’s why beyonce was able to come in the backdoor and outsell every female that’s released an album since taylor swift red in 2012 (and that includes your precious rihanna).

  9. Congrats b!

Amazing shes gone #2 but its not off sales its off streams and youtube views etc… Its sold 155,000 copies which is still alot but the #1 sold 373,000 copies this week. Billboard really just needs to focus on sales cause if not she wouldnt even be in the top 5 maybe even top 10. Im so happy b is number two and no shade on her but billboard should focus on sales.

This is not based on consumer purchase or social networking. Her team is definitely pulling strings because currently her songs sits at number 13 on iTunes which doesn’t add up but hey w/e!

    [Reply]

    Nicki Minaj Reply:

@The Shady Truth, I mean the Billboard charts gets updated every Wednesday and it tracks the sales and streams of songs from Sunday to Tuesday. Last Sunday was Grammy night. Currently her song is at #13 which mean if sales and streams don’t go up this week she’ll go down the charts.
