New Music: Kelis – ‘Rumble’

Prior to the release of her album Food, Kelis serves up another tasty appetizer with “Rumble.” Despite its title, the song takes a more understated approach, as a conflicted Kelis sings about a complicated relationship with her lover.

“We have so much history / I hurt you, you hurt me / Now we don’t need therapy / What I need is you to leave,” she coos.

Due April 22, Food also features the single “Jerk Ribs,” with production from Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.

    LOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Such a different vibe from her. A bit folky, a bit soulful. Less husky of a vocal than typical Kelis, which I appreciate. All in all, she’s continuing to evolve. Just hope her listeners can evolve with her.

    @Kyere’, great review!
    You seem to know what’s good!
    Kelis never repeats herself.
    Even her Guetta song, was the best Guetta has produced yet!
    I am happy she got rid of her ”Pharelle fans”.
    She should be liked for what she IS and not who she works with!
    One of my most fave artists of the last 15 years!

    Like the song, but she is really flat.

    Her voice sounds…… “off” I like the track but her voice does sound flat in the first verse. She’s not singing she’s sing talking
