New Music: Mariah Carey – ‘You’re Mine (Eternal)’

You're Mine (Eternal)

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Mariah Carey returns with a stone groove smash for all the lovers. The big-voiced diva gets swept away by an intoxicating love on “You’re Mine (Eternal),” the new single off her first album in five years, due May 6.

“I can’t seem to live without your love / Suffocating here by myself / Dying for your touch,” sings an emotional Mimi on the hard-hitting ballad, which she wrote and produced with Rodney Jerkins.

Things get even hotter on the R&B remix, on which she trades passionate verses with heartthrob Trey Songz.

The video, shot at Puerto Rico’s El Yungue National Rain Forest, will premiere today at 7:50 p.m. EST on MTV, while the remix video debuts Friday on BET’s “106 & Park.”

@BonnieStevegma, Aye! Aye! I’m really feeling this remix. Trey brings just the right amount of ratchet. This is a true collaboration: voices interacting throughout the entirety of the track.
Keep it up Mariah, and I’ll just have to cop the album!

@Mandela Barb, Thought about it, and I most likely will not buy Mariah’s album. But keep it up!

    This is really #beautiful.
    A nice flowing spring song.
She has a hit on her hands, so please US folks give her what she deserves :)

First this wonderful summer song with #Beautiful, now You’re Mine – she shows clearly she’s still able to dominate.

The remix with Trey is a good one too, since it doesn’t ruin the song, but adds the male perspective, so partners can feel it too ;)

Mariah, off to her 19th (I hope so). There’s nothing like this on radio right now. #Beautiful already deserved it.

OK Rap-Up, you’ve been really vague about it, but I want you to confirm: is the album not gonna be called “The Art of Letting Go” anymore?

Wait….did I miss something?? Because this song is really not great. Hell it’s barely even good. But I read the comments before I listened to the song which kind of got my hopes up I guess.
No I’m not “hating”. But I expected a lot more from someone who’s made such great music before.
This song sounds like a recycled left over from one of her old albums. It’s boring; vocals, production, lyrics. Everything. It’s nothing groundbreaking. I’ve spoken. Bye

    BadBitch Syndrome Reply:

@Deejay, I agree it sounds like all her other stuff. Nothing special, nothing entertaining either.

She seems to think that she has to hit those high notes and use all her 5 octives in every single she puts out. We know she can sing and hit notes but her music lately has become very TRY-HARD and BORING.

    Jessie Reply:

@BadBitch Syndrome, Here he comes! “Badbitch syndrome” I wonder what party you’re a part of. Just cause she aint screaming about her Pu**y dont mean the song aint good. please return to the narrow minded singers you listen to

    [Reply]

    Jessie Reply:

@Deejay, Hun I think you may have missed it. Dont try throw shade by tryna make it seem the new shit aint good too. You wanna come across as a neutral party when you’re one of the most hating ass on her

    [Reply]

    Deejay Reply:

@Jessie, Bitch shut all thee fucking way up. The song is garbage and doesn’t compare to her old music. And you’re mad about it. Any time someone has a disapproving oppinion doesn’t mean it’s “shade”. It means I DON’T SEE IT for the song. And I’m never wrong. I guarantee you on everything this song will flop.

Maybe its becuz I’m not a Mariah fan at all, but I just do not like this song; the remix or the original. I think I see why the rest of you like it though. I do the same thing with Beyoncé, I believe anything she puts out is amazing and lined with gold, so I understand.

I really like this song. It’s better than #Beautiful (although I really like that song) and most certainly better than Triumphant. Hopefully, we can now get this era started. Beyoncé + new Mariah in like a 2 months span? I am not worthy but I am grateful. Yes!
