New Music: The Weeknd – ‘Drunk in Love (Remix)’

The Weeknd

The remixes keep coming. Following Kanye West and Diplo, The Weeknd ups the ante with his seductive remix to Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love.” In honor of his 24th birthday, the Canadian crooner brings Bey’s hit single into his world with a dark and provocative reinterpretation.

“February = new age, new xo gear, new music,” he tweeted.

Go all night with The Weeknd’s intoxicating remix.

@Yes, Still having difficulties getting into his quivering voice, but the track is hot af. That deep voice leading into the chorus was a nice touch. The Weeknd should get into more of this ratchet shit, it could be a good look for him.

Ppl who are hatin a song they know is damn well done are just fan boys/girls of Beyonce. Self-denial will not get you through this…The Weeknd’s version sounds and plays better than Beyonce version because I feel it has that edginess to it.

@Chuckster83, it’s not hating, it’s an opinion. It wasn’t good. The weeknd’s style is very different and some people don’t like it. So how could his version be great to them, especially when compared to Beyoncé’s and her vocals. No one is hating, it’s just not our thing.

    Hello Reply:

@Chuckster83, You right The Weeknd’s version sounds better and his vocals are better he sounds like M.J and I’m sure more people liked M.J than Beyonce.

@Hello, Fuck out of here! He has some talent but he sounds nothing like MJ and never will.

@Rhett, listen to Dirty Diana then listen to D.D by the weeknd. then tell me you sorry dumb ass hater.

    Xo Reply:

@Rhett, you obviously don’t listen to his music. The Weeknd is the closest artist to MJ ever. Idc what you have to say. Listen to songs like D.D and wanderlust. his vocals are amazing! (but don’t get me wrong there will never be another MJ)

I like the way it sounds and the way he does his music (his remix of Florence and the Machine’s ‘Shake It Out’ was hauntingly beautiful), I just don’t like the lyrics in any version of the song. It’s weird, though, given some other hard lyrics I do enjoy. I think they always have to grow on me.

As for the # of remixes, there are several songs that have been remixed far more, so don’t really get the complaints (or the boasting). Just don’t listen. Or do. Whatever.
