New Music: Janelle Monáe - 'Simply Irresistible'

In honor of the Oscars, Janelle Monáe rocks out on a synth-heavy cover of Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible.” The Electric Lady keeps the lyrics intact (“She’s so completely kissable”) as she puts her funky spin on the ’80s hit for E!’s “Live from the Red Carpet” 2014 soundtrack.

“I had so much fuuuun reimagining this song for E’s #Oscars coverage #robertpalmer #simplyirresistible JAM,” tweeted Janelle.

The network also commissioned Charli XCX, The Royal Concept, and Fitz & the Tantrums to cover the song.
