New Music: Frank Ocean, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, & Diplo – ‘Hero’

Converse brings together Frank Ocean and The Clash’s Mick Jones and Paul Simonon for the latest in its “Three Artists. One Song” music series. Produced by Diplo, the reggae-and-rock-tinged “Hero” was recorded in London, Hawaii, and Los Angeles, and features additional vocals from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir.

“I don’t know how we could expect a Clash-Frank Ocean-Diplo song to sound, but this sounds like that,” Diplo told Billboard. “It just has all kinds of vibes on it. We really had no rules.”

“Hero” marks the ninth collaboration in Converse’s “Three Artists. One Song” series, which has featured André 3000, Kid Cudi, Pharrell, Soulja Boy, and Gorillaz.

    nice song but what relevance was being a black man to the song and why did he have mention it after saying all of those negative things?

    @chris, Go to RapGenius, I saw that they broke it down, though bless em but some of those contributors sound like they are first year college students if that.

    When trying to decipher a Frank song, as quoted by the man himself, think metaphors. I tend to find he uses at least 2-3 on one line.

    Frank 101: He makes an over simple statement to prove the point he isn’t saying what he means, 2. There will be a reference to something historical or pop-culture 3. The actual meaning will be an observation or a reference to his personal life.

    @Rose, I love you

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Not even hating, this is so boring. People caught up on name brand artists, but if the same track was dropped by a no name on this site, everyone would ignore it. Factual. Brainwashed times.

    @I can’t, You may not be hating but you’re very narrow-minded. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean it’s “boring.” This is a soft rock song on a hip-hop blog. Most people won’t like it. Free country, now moving on.
