Better in Tune with the Infinite

Aside from his verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” Jay Electronica has kept a low profile since signing to Jay Z’s Roc Nation in 2010. But on Friday night, the New Orleans rapper surprised his fans by dropping “Better in Tune with the Infinite” featuring LaTonya Givens. He was prompted to release the song at the request of a fan on Twitter.

“You know man, I’ve had such a beautiful time among the ppl at #sxsw that it’s the least I can do. thanks for the suggestion,” he responded.

The nearly five-minute track starts off with Professor Marvel’s speech from The Wizard of Oz before Jay waxes poetic over a sample of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Bibo No Aozora,” which Trey Songz also used on his hit “Can’t Be Friends.”

Listen to Jay break his silence on the one-off release.
