Video: Tinashe f/ ScHoolboy Q – ’2 On’

ScHoolboy Q and Tinashe

Since dropping her 13-track mixtape Black Water last year, Tinashe has been one to watch. Now the L.A.-based singer-actress, formerly of girl group The Stunners, makes some major moves in the Hannah Lux Davis-directed video for her DJ Mustard-produced single “2 On” featuring ScHoolboy Q.

The dance-heavy clip opens with the 21-year-old getting ready for a big night out. She rehearses with her girls at a studio before debuting her new moves at an underground club, where she meets up with the Oxymoron rapper. In between all the fierce choreography, the birthday girl blows out the candles on her cake and starts a food fight.

“’2 On’ is meant to be fun. It’s about celebrating being young, going out, being with your friends, and living it up. That was my inspiration,” said Tinashe. “It’s got a West Coast vibe with ScHoolboy Q and DJ Mustard, but it has my spin too. I wanted the visuals for the song to capture that mood.”

Tinashe has been in the studio with producers including Mike WiLL Made It, Boi-1da, T-Minus, and Dev Hynes working on her RCA Records debut, which will feature more up-tempo and rhythmic cuts than her mixtape.

Tinashe gone be a F**kin Problem. Always has been, just hope this sound is only “mixed” with her own unique sound. Either way, I’m ridin w/ her.

VERY pretty girl, cute voice, can dance and the song sounds like a banger. However, the video is badly edited and moves too fast so we can’t focus properly on her dancing. Rooting for her though because she’s very talented

@coolness, . I Agree! Her mixtapes are amazing! And if it’s not broke then the record label doesn’t need to “fix” anything. But I agree. Even her mixtape song Vulnerable would have been a nice single.

I understand it’s a first single and it’s dope if you’re at the club or going for a leisure ride. However, the Black Water mixtape is fire and that is the standard I expect most people will hold her to. I hope the record labels don’t make her become another generic sellout R&B singer … she has way too much talent for that.

@R&B fan, . Please chill. Why compare two artists that aren’t on the same level? What you need to understand is Tinashe got where she is today by working EXTRA hard. Does Zendaya write and produce her own songs & music? Did Zendaya release two mixtapes without being signed and managed to build a strong fan base WITHOUT even having a record deal or being Disney Channel? I’ll wait.
